      Reds eyeing N'Zogbia

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £9-million bid for Wigan Athletic winger Charles N’Zogbia.

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson and the club's ambassador, Kenny Dalglish, watched the Frenchman play against Bolton last weekend.

And according to the People, three top Liverpool scouts, including chief scout Eduardo Macia, went to take a look at N'Zogbia in the Carling Cup win against Swansea City last week.

N'Zogbia was desperate to leave the Latics in the summer, but moves to Birmingham, Olympique Marseille and Sunderland never materialized.

N'Zogbia has an efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 191 minutes this season. His contract with Wigan expires at the end of next season.

Roy to launch £9M N'Zogbia bid
      http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/transfer-gossip/roy-to-launch-9m-n-zogbia-bid

LIVERPOOL gaffer Roy Hodgson plans a £9million transfer window move for Wigan's Charles N'Zogbia.

He has been in stunning form since turning down a summer move to Birmingham City.

Hodgson and talent-spotter Kenny Dalglish watched French wing wizard N'Zogbia (above) in top form against Bolton last weekend when they went to see him and run the rule over today's opponents.

The Anfield pair saw enough to send three of their top scouts, including number one Eduardo Macia, to check him out in midweek - only for N'Zogbia to be restricted to a brief appearance as a sub in the Carling Cup.

Wigan could be tempted to sell, with the player ambitious for a top club and Marseille also showing an interest.

Hodgson hopes to do business in the New Year market and a pacy wide man is his missing link. None of his captures have filled that bill and Ryan Babel looks a likely departure to clear the way.

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez wants to hold on to his best players but he and chairman Dave Whelan may allow a sale to strengthen the Latics squad with the cash.

Martinez admits he would like to bring in fresh faces for the second half of the season.

I wouldn't mind him but would he really cost £9m?

£9 million for this lad would be insane, he plays good about once every 6 weeks. John Henry if your reading this please don't let Roy make signings like this.

6m tops. But i really like him as a player. He's quick, can dribble, lethal shot and a very good player at both cutting in or staying out wide.

      Quality squad player, for me.

Not for me. His attitude stinks! If we can get him on a free at the end of the season, then maybe, but I wouldn't pay £9million for him when that money could be invested in Arda Turan as mentioned above.

Another squad player who will block the development of Pacheco and Shelvey whilst preventing us using our transfer budget on a quality first-team player.  No thanks.

He's a good little player. But not worth £9M and i'd rather see Pacheco given a chance.

Not the the sort of player a club like us should now be targetting we should be targetting the same players as Utd Chelsea City and Arsenal.

Do we honestly think any of them clubs would target this lad or some of the sh*te we are currently being linked to. Links like this really has to stop.

Weren't we linked with N'Zogbia under Benitez too? Decent premiership player and its right he has a cracking left foot but not sure he's good value at 28. Good squad player maybe, but we need to sign a first XI level winger as soon as possible.

Please no more decent overinflated Premiership players, if NESV genuinely want the club to be successful signings like this won't help

I suppose the main question is that is he better or at least as good as what we already have?

I'd say yes he is capable of playing for us but only in a squad rotation system.

£9million? No way, £4.5million maybe but not £9million.

Not a bad option to have in the squad if he comes at the right price (not £9m).  Remember Spain played Iniesta in a wide midfielder role but against Switzerland who were very compact and narrow at the back they bought on Jesus Navas to play more of a winger role in order to utilise that extra space out wide.  Having additional options isn't a bad idea and frankly there's no point in spending top dollar for them.
