Liverpool vs Napoli ( 4th November 2010 ) Pre-match thread

Thought I should start this.

Don't know which players will be playing because I won't be surprised if Roy decides to rest the big boys ahead of the clash with Chelsea in the Premier League.

Whatever team set out, I'd like a win but being a little pessimistic, I think it'd be a dull draw.

think we will nick this by a goal and to be honest I think even with a couple of the big boys on the bench we will. It should be easy for Hodgson to motivate the players for this one, just remind them what happened to our fans in Italy. A disgrace and just another example of why FIFA continue to rule the game unfairly.

Babel has had enough chances id give Pacheco a game and not play poulsen. Move shelvey into the cnetre with spearing and give that suso or play eccelston up there. Give the kids a shot.

I reckon will scrape a 1-0 with a Dossena own goal.

If Pacheco doesn't play, i would demand an explanation as to why he hasn't featured at all.

Pacheco never featured under Rafa but people didn't get the knives out for Rafa when he didn't play.

In saying that, Pacheco should play against Napoli IMO

Or we can play a 4-2-3-1 but with pacheco playing behind torres , shelvey moving to the right.

Yeah agree, he needs 60 mins or so, he looks well low on confidence.

Pacheco clearly isn't rated by the staff.

When Babel isn't given the game time.. people say it must be because he is rubbish in training.

When Pacheco isn't given the game time... is it not for the same reason???

I like the guy, but I'm not sure he's deserving of all the hype.  Certainly be happy for him to feature in thsi game though!

On another note... this was going to be my first game at Anfield! My wife and I are travelling to Liverpool that day, and planend to stay a little, but now have to do a day trip instead! So I can't be there for the evening... !!!! Well annoyed.

I fully expect Poulsen to play.

Shame.  Shelvey and Pacheco should definitely be in the line up.  And Roy may consider it useful to beef up the bench this time.  Just in case.

Remember Northampton when you left Gerrard, Torres et al at home.

Suffice to say I want to rest players for Sunday... it'd also be good to give young players another game, experience of Anfield in Europe.
I want to win this game, but if we don't, meh, we should be able to batter the other two teams so no worries about qualifying for the next round.
PL is our priority.

It Gerrard and Torres are rested for this game, then I rearly have to question there over all fitness level and the physio department.

Full squad, kill them off and qualify ASAP. No pissing about.

All well and good saying go witha full squad if you mean have Torres, Stevie on the bench or if they satrt they come off on the hour mark. We need a fresh 11 for Chelsea Sunday

He will probably rest his Key players if he can remind himself just who they are.
