Hello everyone. Has anyone got any idea of who will be representing Liverpool in the testimonial for tyler on sat 21 july. I know the first team are away on tour so assume it will be made up from the ressies and under 18's. Hope to take my lad to his 1st Liverpool game, even if it is a shadow squad.

I think it really is going to be a shadow of a squad.  Liverpool play Auxerre on Friday over in Switzerland (the first team) and I can't see any of that side being involved in Peterborough a day later.

Hope your lad has a great time though.

Are many Liverpool fans coming down for the match?

I think you may be surprised at the quality of the team Darren Ferguson has put together with new chairman Darragh MacAnthony's backing. If you do go let us know what you made of the day.

All the best to Liverpool in the new season. If you beat Man U and Chelsea at least once then I will have had a happy season watching the Premiership!

Local lad Hobbs in Liverpool squad for Tyler's testimonial

LOCAL lad Jack Hobbs is part of the Liverpool squad visiting London Road for Mark Tyler's testimonial on Saturday.
Central defender Hobbs (18) is from Moulton Harrox and moved to Anfield on a free transfer from Lincoln City last year. Liverpool will be managed on the day by reserve team boss Gary Ablett.

The Liverpool first team are flying out to Hong Kong at the weekend, but a handful of the club's FA Youth Cup-winning sides of the last two seasons are involved.

Liverpool squad: David Martin, Martin Hanson, Stephen Darby, Robbie Threlfell, Jack Hobbs, Miki Roque, Ronald Huth, Martin Kelly, Daniel Ayala, Ray Putterill, Jay Spearing, Ryan Flynn, Nabil El Zhar, Ryan Crowther, Besian Idrijaz, Jordi Brouwer, Craig Lindfield, Kristian Nemeth, Andreas Simon, Daniel Pachecho.

More than 7,000 tickets have been sold for the match which celebrates goalkeeper Tyler's 13 years at Posh. More than 1,000 visiting supporters are expected.

Fans can now pay on the day at selected turnstiles namely, South Stand (lower), Main Stand A, B left, B right, D, and on the terraces at the Moys End and London Road End.

Admission prices are £20 for adults to sit, £15 for adults to stand and £10 for concessions in all areas (concessions are under 16s, students with a valid NUS card, registered disabled and OAP's).

A Gary Ablett managed Liverpool XI have drawn 0-0 with League Two side Peterborough in a testimonial friendly for their long serving goalkeeper Mark Tyler at London Road on Saturday.
Both sides had chances to win the game, but it was Liverpool's goalkeeper, Hansen, who was the busier and he made two fines save, one from the penalty spot, to earn his side a share of the spoils.

Fans at London Road were given a glimpse into what may be Liverpool's future with many of the young players who this year retained the FA Youth Cup and some of Rafa's summer captures representing the Reds while the first team continue their pre-season preparations in Hong Kong.

A crowd of more than 9,000 turned up in support of Peterborough's goalkeeper Mark Tyler's testimonial, who has been at the club for 13 years. And the game was given a touch of extra significance because Peterborough's Chairman is a massive Liverpool fan and was at the Champions League Final; and Posh are managed by Darren Ferguson, the son of Manchester United manager Alex.

When the game started it was Liverpool who carried the greater threat and Idrizaj, who scored a first half hat-trick against Wrexham, twice brought a good save from man of the moment Tyler. But it took a great penalty save from Reds keeper Martin Hansen to keep it goalless at the break after Roque's 42nd minute handball gave Keates a chance from 12 yards. Hansen's one handed save onto the post bringing a low key first half to an exciting end.

The Reds made a substitution at the break and it gave us a first look at Hungarian striker Krisztian Nemeth, after he replaced Craig Lindfield. But it was Peterborough who dominated the early part of the second half and it took another fine save from Hansen, this time from a Blackett header, to keep the scores level.

Ablett made another change on the hour when he brought on the second half of Rafa's double Hungarian swoop in the summer, Andras Simon, and he was quickly involved when he made a dart into the area only to be foiled by two Posh defenders.

There was a welcome sight of sunlight as the game drifted towards full time, but it was a goal that the fans wanted to see and neither side could craft a sufficient opening. The man they'd all come to see, Mark Tyler, enjoying a standing ovation having celebrated his big day with a clean sheet.

Liverpool – Hansen, Peltier, Smith, Roque, Huth, Spearing, Flynn (Crowther 66), Le Tallec, Lindfield (Nemeth 46), Idrizaj (Brouwer 73), Putterill (Simon 59). Subs not used – Oldfield, Kelly.

Had forgotten Tyler was a keeper - as if we would score then!

Le Tallec... thought he had well gone!  Some of the Melwood squad and the new Hungarians taking part.  Bit of a nothing game all in all though.

I went to the game and it is fair to say that the one player who really shone was Miki Roque.

Roque was outstanding and a real prospect for the future and as for Le Tallec he was totally crap,a real let down.

Not sure why we still have him.

Bes Idrazig (probably wrong spelling) was OK.Nice touches but none of our strikers never tested the keeper.

Our fans were quality and really kept the tempo going through most of the game.

Look out for Roque in the future. He wore number 4 and will be sound cover for our center halfs.
