Judge who unmasked John Terry says another Premier League star has no right to anonymity

A Premier League footballer is set to be unmasked by the senior High Court judge who lifted the super injunction banning the naming of England and Chelsea star John Terry.
Mr Justice Tugendhat ruled today that the player, who claimed his human ‘right to privacy’ would be breached if he was named, should be named.
He set aside an injunction lending him anonymity to preserve his privacy and also refused him leave to appeal against his ruling.
Lurid details about Terry’s alleged affair with team mate Wayne Bridge’s former girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel were revealed after the judge repealed a super injunction preventing information about it.
The move was seen as a blow for freedom of speech.
But now, while the unnamed Premier League footballer’s lawyers have 14 days to go to the Court of Appeal to try and reverse his decision, the judge said the anonymity order must remain in force in the meantime.
