      The 66th Ashes 2010-11
      Nov 17, 2010 02:09:19 am
England - current holders of the Ashes.

Can we hold the Ashes for the first time in Australia since 1987-88?

Last time England defended the Ashes down under 4 years ago we got hammered 5-0.  Different this time?  I've got a feeling it will be a bit closer.

Cannot bloody wait for this! Not going to like waking up at ridiculous times though.

We're in good form at the moment, Aussies not so much. However, i don't think that counts for much especially as we're playing in their backyard where they have a good record.

      I'll go for 5-0 to us. ;)

Best chance we've had in Australia since '87.

Can't wait for this one. Genuinely believe they can win this time. They're doing brilliantly so far in the tour.

Always loved the Ashes. Shame all international cricket is being shown on that rank greedy pigshit of a cooporation Sky. Still have TMS on radio with Aggers and co to keep company!

I'll never forget the Ashes in England in 2005 for as long as I live especially the Edgbaston match.

Steve Harmison bowls Kasprowicz, Ashes 2005 Edgbaston

The greatest series ever! I'd only started watching cricket the previous summer in 2004 when England battered the West Indies at home.

Having said that the Ashes in Australia just has that extra spice and kick to it which makes it so much more intriguing. Would love to attend a test match there. You can always rely on the England cricket team or rugby side to show those nobs in the football side how its done!

Boss watching it on chrimbo night, with it being Boxing day in Oz, with a load of ale.

Best chance we've had in a while to beat them on their own turf.

I fancy us to win 3-1.

Shaking off all bias as an Aussie, i have genuine worry this time - much like Liverpool at the moment, first time in a long time i don't have much confidence.

Still, will be trying to watch as always :D

Like many HuytonRed is probably not a supporter of the England football team. And he's completely right! The 3 Lions are just pure wrong.

Now the England cricket team is a team to be proud of in victory or in defeat!

Can only see one winner of this series - England.  Always thought the Aussies would struggle when they lost the nucleus of their side - Warne, McGrath, Langer, Hayden and Gilchrist.  It's simply impossible to replace the best leg-spinner ever to play the game, one of the best keeper/batsmen and the most accurate opening bowler I've ever seen.  Their replacements are just not in the same league and I fully expect England to retain the ashes.

Look out for good performances for Strauss and Bell with the bat and Anderson and Swann with the ball - can't wait to see the Aussie press reaction to their imminent defeat !

Don't believe the sh*te you've been hearing that we're a terrible side now. We're still a much better side than England and our second XI exposed some weaknesses in the batting of England.

3-2/1 to the Aussies. We'll win in Brissy, Perth and Melbourne. You's can have Sydney and/or Adelaide.

England win the Ashes in Australia..*scoffs* Puh-lease!

Anyways, i'll be at the SCG for at least one of the days in Sydney. Can't wait. It's Pommy-hunting time!

Clarke in doubt, but Khwaja is a great batter who i've watched many a time at the SCG for New South Wales in the Sheffield Shield should he replace him.

      Pumped for this!

      Can't wait for this either.

Will be a tough series being in Oz, but we're just too good at the moment to contemplate a defeat.

Is that the Pakistan born batsman who scored 13 and 0 against England's back up bowling attack? ;)

I'm looking forward to this one - reckon England will just beat the Aussies 2-1.  Wish I was there again.  Last time I couldn't get to the Melbourne test cos it ended in like 2 and a half days. :D

The Aussie doth protest too much, methinks ;)

I'm dead excited for this, although I do think England are getting a bit too hyped before. It'll all come crashing back down to earth when the long overdue, yet thoroughly predictable, middle order collapse comes during the series.

We may have a foreigner in our side, unlike England you may have an englishman in their side.

^ Exactly. How man Scots, South Africans, Irish etc. are there?

Hopefully this time you's dont ball tamper to win a series like Trescothick said you's did couple years ago ;)

We don't actually have any Scots in the side and only one Paddy in Morgan who won't play much in the Tests anyway. And a couple of South African's.

But who cares where they're from, all that matters is where the Ashes are going and the fact is, the Ashes are going back to England with Strauss, KP, Trott, Morgan and the rest of the English boys. The Aussies are sh*t these days, relying on a bowling attack including Shane Watson.

Walk in the park for England and I wouldn't be surprised to see 5-0 to us this series. Providing we don't get cheated by the umpires and providing Ponting doesn't go on another little bi*ch session like he's prone to do. Our back up bowlers ripped through your back up batsmen just like our front line bowlers will do to your top order.

Only thing I'm not looking forward to is the timing, why can't you Aussies play cricket at normal times and not midnight. ;)

Oh yeah that was torture. Especially Edgebaston in 05 where i stayed up all night to watch, only for us to lose with 2 runs left thanks to Kaspa's terrible shot. Most heart wrenching moment in a game of cricket i have watched.

Anyways, it's staying in Australia. The World XI (England) might as well go back already.

I was only having a little dig at you Aussies about Khawaja.

Hey, I'm Irish...we have Aussies and South Africans playing for us, our best player is playing for England and we're trying to lure a former New Zealand Test player to play for us.  But Ed Joyce is coming back to Ireland so just you watch him fire us to World Cup glory early next year. ;)

By the way, what's the weather like for Brisbane next few days?
