I'd take them both. I think as the owners are looking to the future, we will let Aquilani leave and try and bring in Defour.

Defour is having a shoulder and calf surgery on monday and will be out for the next three months. Suffered a dislocated shoulder last weekend during the game.

But is a hell lot better than poulsen though, even without his arm in the right place!

A little dicky bird has told me we are seriously in for Hazard and also his Belgium team mate Defour, I've been told the deals could be done as early as January with both players completing the season at their respective clubs.

Make of that what you will, just passing on what I've been told.

Why do we want Defour?

Young, pacey, energetic and a great passer of the ball.... he is the anti-Poulsen!
I would be delighted with Hazard and Defour, even if we have to wait until the summer.

That part has already been answered really. He wants to join a big club (even the most pessimistic can't deny we're a big club) but wants first team opportunities, something we can offer due to a lack of genuine width in the squad (barring very young players).
I agree that it sounds like a long shot at first glance but hopefully Comolli can put across the UKSV vision of acquiring top class young players to build for the future.
We have a chance.

Watched him in the Lille vs Saint Etienne and he is just pure class. He was getting through 3 defenders at a time. Whatever we invest in him, I think it will be worth it.

Getting Hazard would be a first major major step in the right direction. And F**k all this about January not being the right time to buy anyone, the longer we leave putting in a bid for this guy, the more his price is going to go up. He'll be out of Lille within 2011 I think and I'm hoping it's here. Logically it'd be a good step for him as he's almost guaranteed a starting place and would be a big part of NESV's rebuilding. Doesn't matter about Woy not wanting to play him I would envisage Hazard hanging around a lot longer than Hodgson were he to arrive in January.
