      Liverpool interested in Johnson

Liverpool are pondering a shock bid for unsettled Manchester City winger Adam Johnson in the January transfer window.

According to the Metro newspaper, Kop boss Roy Hodgson is a huge advocate of Johnson's talents and he is keen to reinforce his wide positions by snagging the former Middlesbrough academy youngster.

Johnson himself recently voiced his concern at his sudden demotion to the City bench under chief Roberto Mancini, though he quickly softened his stance, claiming he lashed out in 'moment of frustration'

"Every footballer has to think about it when the time comes.  It is still early but I definitely would consider [leaving]," Johnson stated.

"It is disappointing when you are not playing from the start in games like that. I was itching to get on. I was dying to play from the start not just come on," he said.

"The manager has to make decisions but I was gutted to be left out."

The City midfielder was referring to the fact that he was left out of the lineup for the Manchester derby against Manchester United and was brought on with only 17 minutes left.

Liverpool, armed with renewed transfer funds under new owners New England Sports Ventures (NESV), are looking to make a statement of intent in the transfer market come January.

Wouldn't mind seeing him here. I guess we may be able to offer him more playing time.

It would be a huge coup, but it wont happen. Quality players end up at Spurs these days.
We need to write this season off and then start the rebuilding process. I don't think NESV have paid 300m to finish mid table....

Ive always liked this player. He would fit in any of the top six teams in the League. He would without doubt improve your squad if Liverpool bought him.

sucks City got Dzeko, they would of offered the whole farm to get Torres

def should push for him in the summer, he doesnt seem to all that favored by Mancini, and with the injury he will fall further down

He's most likely a fall back option if we don't land Hazard or Sanchez.

Wont be too bad, but apart from him we will need another winger.

Why would City sell one of the best wingers in the premier league to us?

We has our chance to sign him when he was at Middlesbrough.

Top quality player and would love him on our left wing but I don't think City would sell him, especially to us.

Couse they'll probably buy another 4-5 wingers in the summer and there will be no place for him. They already have Silva and Milner who are above him in the choice for starting 11.

They might buy 4-5 players but not 4-5 wingers. City have proved that they don't want to sell top players to teams who are challenging them, look at Bellamy, Tottenham wanted him badly but City would rather loan him to a championship club then sell to a rival club.

Maybe they will be more willing to sell because the FFP rules come into play.

If Adam Johnson wants game time, he will demand to leave. It's that simple City can't do much about it, I don't blame him because he's not getting enough game time for his quality.

They could refuse to sell? They will sell him to a Spanish, Italian club etc before they contemplate selling him to us.

They can do and probably will. They can turn around and say he's worth a lot more now than what they paid for him.

They can hold other clubs to ransom, simply because they are not desperate to sell and don't need the money either.
