Not a fan of Ngog starting to be honest this formation was ruthlessly exposed at Man City and I don't think this is the right game for it either.

Ngog and Torres up front. I like this. Ngog will run at them.

I don't think anything chats, he has said he is not changing his tactics so I can see us really struggling today.

It amazes me he can't play 2 up top at home against teams like Blackpool but he can away against Spurs and City.

Van Der Vaart starts apparently. Not confirmed though according to the BBC.

      4-4-2 failed against City.

      What's changed then?

It's still a bad idea but not for the same reasons as City.  City build their game around playing at least 2 DMs and often 3, also Tevez and at minimum 1 winger are asked to drop back into the midfield to form a 5 or even 6 man midfield.  Spurs don't clog the midfield as much, they play at a quicker tempo and look to get the ball to their wingers to bomb forward, we should be aiming to hold the ball in the middle and deny them those options.

"But 4-4-2 plays with not 1 BUT 2 strikers, therefore it's more attacking" - The quintessential British manager handbook, published by Mike Bassett, circa 1926.

It'll be difficult but if we can contain Van der Vaart, Bale, and Lennon we have a good chance though I reckon. Also good to see Roy has went With Torres and Ngog up top, At least Nando will have some support with Ngog and also with Maxi and Kuyt on both wings.

Fair points mate. Although Van Der Vaart will look to use the space between our midfield and defence meaning Lucas has to track him which could result in Meireles being in a bit of bother against Modric and Palacios (if the latter looks to get forward that is).

I think we can win, but we have no chance if Roy sets us up the same way as all our performances away from Anfield so far.
