Apparently all matches in Qatar will be held within indoor stadiums (Air conditioned as said above)

      That should be interesting.
That's not true. The stadiums and training accomodations will be airconditioned, but will not be indoor. Posted some of the stadia plans here earlier in this thread.

Serious question Dex. How do you air condition an open stadium. What a waste of energy that would be to pump cold air out into the open

I don't know mate, but I'm sure they're capable of pulling it off. No shortage of energy or money in that country though is there. Not like people care about 'green' World Cups, because then my country would've won. :P

Im sure in 12 years time that would be answered, they do have the tech but has not been tested on a large scale before.

I think the qatar bid is very exciting and hopefully to one which i may go.

Carbon cooling? Based on hot air rising so most of the cold air staying at a low level maybe. Or underground cooling? Ha ha sorry I'm drunk

Being Aussie, I'm obviously disappointed but I can understand their reasoning.  The Middle East has seen a huge explosion in the interest of football lately and it's seen as a great chance to develop the game over there.  My major qualms are (in order): the potential that we will not see half-naked South American ladies, the manner in which Qatar was selected (doesn't seem 100% kosher, does it?) and the pedigree of football history from the host nation.

Trying to look at this from an objective view, the Australian bid surely had to be more appealing than the votes had us lead on.  It does however present us with a very different climate (no not literally, well yes actually also literally) to what we're used to.  I enjoyed the experience of SA2010, it gave me a chance to see the world of football "through South Africa's eyes" and I look forward to doing the same come Qatar 2022.

Best of luck to the Qataris in hosting the tournament and I hope most people's initial concerns are horrendously misguided and we look forward to a brilliant tournament in spite of how we got there.  It's like your parents forcing you to go on holidays when you were little, there's not a whole lot you can do about once you're there, so just try and make the best of it.

As far as the Russian bid goes, I think it was a good choice personally.

edit: I'm not going to lie though, Brazil 2014 is the one I've been looking forward to the most for quite some time now.  Been planning it for some years now and there is a slight possibility I might not come back from that one in one piece, it's going to be legen... WAIT FOR IT

They're not kidding on the clothes. I was in Dubai and every westerner not wearing clothes covering knees and shoulders were told to leave shopping centres and ridiculed by locals.

Put me down on record as saying - worst WC ever!

Andrew you are a NARROW MINDED DICKHEAD for that comment.

      Its called a joke.

And if a joke was aimed at English torture history in the same way i wouldnt get all capitals on it.

On topic, shocking that we dont have this.  Fifa talk about being ready to go with stadiums which in their opinion is a bad thing.

      I dont understand it.

We gained nothing from the 66 world cup did we?  All the stadiums were built then.  Same with euro 96.

We may see plenty of big names playing freindlys in qatar to raise the profile of the country in preperation for the world cup 2022.

Zinedine Zidane got 1 million $ from Qatar to support their bid. Then he got 10 million $ because Qatar won. Disgusting.

Overmore, the choice of Qatar 2022 is a pure madness. It will not help football to develop in this country. After WC 2022 stadiums will be destroyed and given to I-don't-know-who to do I-don't-know-what...

FIFA choosing Qatar is the same as the FA choosing Milton Keynes as a host city!!

Two World Cups back to back in the same Time Zone. A Time Zone that will be very difficult to televise for the vast majority of the world, unless you play the games in the early ours of the day.

I can live with Russia getting it, but not with the Voting. Qatar is the Joke of the Century.

Poland and Ukraine were told by UEFA that they were too small a footballing nation to hold the Euro's individually! But Qatar is OK? May be they had the appropriate attribute$$$$.

I guess those CGI Videos really impressed FIFA, (Page 1)

But do they know something we do not? Are the CCCP making a comeback with East and West Europe?

If not, why are EAST GERMANY in the 2022 World Cup?

Plus is that the USSR/CCCP Flag to the right?
