      Emmanuel Adebayor (Man City)
      Dec 02, 2010 09:47:19 pm
Liverpool and Tottenham are locked in a shock fight to keep Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the Premier League on a loan deal, according to the Mirror.

The Togolese forward is disillusioned with life on the fringes of the first team at Eastlands and wants to leave in January.

In fact, he is so desperate to move to a Champions League side that he is set to force a loan move to Tottenham next month.

The former Arsenal hitman has even asked Manchester City to pay half of his £120,000 per week wages until the end of the season while he is on loan at White Hart Lane.

However, City do not want their player at Spurs and would rather he moved to Juventus, who have stated their interest already, or Liverpool.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has not been linked with Adebayor yet, despite a plethora of names being touted as possible Anfield targets, but the deal could work.

With one world class player expected to arrive on Merseyside in January, Liverpool will not have a lot of money to bring anyone else to the club.

And, with City willing to subsidise some of Adebayor's wages, it may be a deal the club finds appealing enough to take Roberto Mancini up on.

He would be a cheaper option than the likes of Carlton Cole for Liverpool and, arguably, a better and more proven option too.

I found this one on the offal.... they attribute this piece of fantasy to the Mirror.

Ade is a decent player and I think he could do a good job here, but I don't really want him here.  He is a whiny bi*ch and he only plays for himself.  Also, there is no way in hell that City will keep him in the Prem.... he will be sold to a club in Spain, Italy, France, or Germany for roughly 1/5 the price that City originally paid for him!

Please no! No doubting he has some class but he has a horrible attitude and isn't good enough to have it quite frankly.

An absolute mercenary. Cant see City offloading him to rival teams. Also it states we haven't been linked in the article. So why did they even mention it? Is it an agent fishing for offers? Crazy

He's a decent player but he's also a complete tw*t. No way City will loan him to a rival for the CL places and the key line in the article is "Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has not been linked with Adebayor yet"

Pretty much end of story really.

Please don't sign him. Complete waste of space. Why is it that when we are linked with a top quality player, so are spurs.

Ha if we sign him this would be the gravest thing ever.

At Arsenal he needed like 20 chances to score one goal! Plus, he's a pr**k we need to be linked with players of Drogba's calibre not players like Adebayor!

Not a chance do I want Adebayor in a Liverpool shirt. Not a chance in hell. Nearly as much I don't want Mourinho being our manager. He reminded me of Mourinho when he legged it the full length of the pitch to taunt the Arsenal fans when he scored against them last season.

If he is really free, with half his wages paid by city, just here for a temporary loan, and avoiding Roy to recruit a player like C Cole, I'd say why not.

In any other cases, just no.

      Bit of a tw*t but he's a good player.

Don't see why City would want to loan him out to either one of two rivals to be honest.

As he badly wants to leave City a loan deal might not be a bad thing,he will have 4 to 5 months to put himself in the shop window and will have to prove to interested clubs that he can still do the business. The last lad we got from City and had half of his wages paid for was Robbie Fowler and he did not do a bad job did he.p.s. I am aware that it was Leeds who were footing the bill for Half Robbies wages.

Definetley not. Hate him as a player he is selfish and not a team player. Would rather have Ngog up top as lone striker for the rest of the season.
