      Darren Bent (Sunderland A.F.C)

Darren Bent - think this might have legs. Even though Bruce has previous with K Jones.

Not sure he's a partner for nando but he'd be great for extra firepower up front, proven goal scorer.

£15+ million, be about right price, chuck in Babel, seems to have a good fitness record over the years aswell. Kind of player scum up the road would look at IMO.

Anyone else like the idea, he's certainly no Carlton Cole. ?

Yeah he's not the ideal player i'd like to see brought in but he's miles better than Carlton Cole. Proven goal scorer but for me would just be there to come in when Torres is out, As he isn't a stirke partner for Nando to be honest. Whatever our budget stretches too will determine who we can buy.

Just try to make a sentence out of the words Torres and Bent. sorry its not a joke but signing Bent would be. We need players of equal stature of Fernando if we are too keep him and improve as a team.

How the hell would it be a joke? he scores goals wherever he plays. So he misses a few chances, Ngog and Babel worte the book on missing chances and the service he gets is going to be far superior with a team like Liverpool. Most importantly his goal come in the league as opposed to Europa league qualifiers and stupid cup ties. Signin him would be a massive step for us, we'd have two established goal scoring strikers.

No chance ppl. Steve Bruce is man u mad and wouldn't sell to us. It would cost more then 15 mill + babel. Sunderland brought him for 16 million when he was on the spurs bench. Try 22 million + babel.

I would perfere andy carroll or ola toivonen.

I've seen links over the past week in the BBC Gossip column. Suprised it has taken so long for some one to start a thread.

Anything upto £21m if my memory serves me right.

I dont think Darren Bent gets the credit he deserves. He is a top top striker who has averaged 20 goals a season in the last few years and hes still only young really.
If you changed his name to something marquee and looked at his stats, a lot of top clubs would be looking at him.

Think he would be a excellent signing for us, proven goalscorer and could play as lone striker or alongside Nando.

Quoted in agreement. I'd be over the moon if we bought him.

Love it if we got him, he's a proven goalscorer and has pace to burn. 2 things we lack, when Nando is not on the park.

I was one who wanted Bent before we signed Torres and I be delighted if we signed him now.

He is a quality finisher and scores goals wherever he has been and proven in the Prenier League.

Oh my yes. He was one i sounded out before the season started. Anything up to 18m and i'd be very happy. I've defended him throughout his time at Spurs and he had a better goal scoring ratio to Defoe during his time there.

      Quality player.

I think you were also one of the ones who liked the idea of us signing him in the summer we got Torres if I remember rightly Crouchy.

Like someone above said one of the few English players who is worth the figures quaoted about his price tag.

Yeah i was, i voted for him in the poll we had up all those years ago ahead of Torres, Villa and whoever else was on it. I watched a few games of him at Charlton even though i was about 14 years old and remember him just knowing where to be, intrinsically getting forward into positions and popping up with the goods.

Great player. Probably not the perfect fit for Fernando but i just think he's great and would love to see him here,

I voted for him too and actually was one of the ones on here who wasn't to keen on Torres!!

So glad we went for Fernando then but would still be very happy if we did make a move to sign Darren Bent.

      I wouldn't mind this.

Good goals record, plus scores against the big boys.

£21m does seem a tad over the top though.
