      Good for him and Villa.

Thanks F**k we didn't fork out all that money on somebody who is realistically worth half of it.

I heard that it was only recently that Bent had scored two goals in a game for the first time

You might be thinking of Carlton Cole, Bent has scored a few.

      He's costing this much because:

      a) he's English

and b) Since 2005, he has 81 league goals. Only Rooney and Drogba (82) have more.

      Hes class imo.

You pay that much and you know he will get you 20 goals a season.

      Thats £18million worth these days!

      I'd have him.

However 24m for a back up striker is much. At least Suarez can play up top with Torres or on the right. Bent is purely a lead the line kind of striker and we have Fernando.

No way would he work with Torres neither can play the second striker, this isn't Championship manager, we need to buy someone to play with Torres not instead of him that is why Suarez is a good signing.

£24 million for Bent is football gone mad wouldn't be impressed if I was a Villa fan.

doubt this would happen. he scores a lot for sunderland and they'd want 20+m for him, which i wouldnt pay.

Aston Villa have smashed their transfer record in signing Sunderland striker Darren Bent in a deal which could eventually cost them £24m.

      How much was Torres?
