Good victory.  Hope we can play Villa every week.  They were sh*te.

At least we got a second half goal for a change - could have scored more, felt we sat off a little bit too much when they were there for the taking.

But about time we moved in to positive goal difference.  Still a long way back but good to see we don't need Gerrard, Carra and Torres perhaps as much as those three like to think we need them.

Tonight tells us nothing, we will revert to the same away from home, have to say Villa were awful, I think Houllier is really really struggling

Get in, OMFG Johnson, he hasnt played like that all season, by far my MoTM - so much energy shooting forward and was solid at the back. Second best game of the season since the Chelski game. Hopefully we can get a ruyn together now with the games coming up... (or am i being optimistic with our away record =/)

On a positive note though, I nearly misidentified Lucas as Xavi Hernández. That Brazilian is really that good!

A great result and congrats to Pepe.  Good first half, tepid in the second.  The same issues are still there - we are giving away too much possession.  A better side would have punished us.  Still, onwards we go.

Superb all round performance, but again, it was at home against weak opposition and it will flatter to deceive many people.

Lucas MOTM for me, with Maxi an honorable mention. I think it's time to examine a Lucas-Meireles permanent partnership in the middle, and moving Gerrard up top with Torres. Not sure how it will do, but you can't drop Lucas or Raul at the moment from the middle of the park, and no, Roy, moving Raul to the Right is not the answer.

Dunno, not as struggling as Rafa is to me though.
