Find the best odds and bet on the Premier League. Ajax managing director Rik van den Boog believes that "streetfighter" Luis Suarez will bring a new lease of life at Liverpool, whose standing has fallen in the last two years.
The Reds missed out on finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League last campaign, and are in danger of repeating that failure this time out.
But with the club having only recently agreed on a £22.8 million fee for the Uruguay international, the Dutch club's director believes that the Merseysiders have a lot to gain from the imminent transfer.
"Luis is going to bring the place alive because he is a streetfighter," Van den Boog said, according to The Mirror.
"He arrived here with a decent reputation but he was not a big player then. In the dressing room he soon stood up and became a leader. That’s why he was special."
The managing director also maintained that the 24-year-old did not return to his club homesick after a trip to play an international game in his homeland, Uruguay.
"When he goes on his travels to South America he always rushes back," he added.
"Suarez is back on the training pitch the next morning when he has just flown around half the world for a game for Uruguay. He immediately puts his focus on his club again."
The boss insisted that despite Suarez's temperament, the forward would be remembered for his positive contributions to the Eredivisie outfit.
Van den Boog said: "We’ll remember him for his incredible amount of goals and what he has done for the club. Our fans were crazy about him".
