Theo Janssen 'on Roy Hodgson's Liverpool transfer list for January

FC Twente midfielder Theo Janssen is one of several players based in Holland on Roy Hodgson's Liverpool transfer wish-list for January.


The 29-year-old left-footed playmaker has three caps for the Dutch national side and has been on Hodgson's radar for the last four months because of a release clause in his contract.

Free-kick specialist Janssen can leave Twente for just over £3million because of the cluse, which has been activated this season.

However, club president Joop Munsterman claims the deal only kicks in next summer - hinting he would demand more for the player if the Reds came calling in January.

Scottish side Rangers are also thought to be tracking Janssen, although when questioned on the player Munsterman said: 'Nobody has spoken to me, and if they did FC Twente can ask what it wants for him.'

Meanwhile, Nacer Chadli is a target for Sunderland but the Moroccan also interests Lyon and Hamburg.

One more 29yr old average player linked with us, oh joy.

I like him, he's a great guy and is turning into a decent player. But, let's be honest, he's not good enough for us. He could have been, he used to captain the dutch youth sides, ahead of players like Sneijder and Van der Vaart. But he was a bit unlucky, got stuck at a mediocre downwards spiraling team, Vitesse. I think he's a Gerrard type of player, but he's not as good. He could've been though, could have been even better maybe, but he's just not reached his full potential due to circumstances. Nice guy though, and he likes a beer and a smoke.

Not to mention Janssen's character-a conviction for drink driving amongst them .At least he would be able to compare tattoos with Agger, Skrtel and Raul.

I don't know anything about him- not seem him play, but I just don't want another average 29 year old
