      Mario Gomez (Bayern Munich)
      Dec 15, 2010 07:18:04 pm
Sport.co.uk understands that Bayern Munich forward Mario Gomez is attracting interest from top European clubs ahead of the January transfer window with the player's representative expecting enquiries for the striker.

Gomez, 25, is being tracked by Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Juventus following a difficult start to the Bundesliga campaign with Bayern Munchen having onlu recently broken into the first-team following an injury to Miroslav Klose.

The German international is highly regarded as one of Europe's most prolific marksman following his 35 million euro move from Stuttgart to Bayern Munich in 2009. Despite recently being given more game time by boss Louis van Gaal Gomez is being monitored closely by the aforementioned trio, but despite interest there has been no formal offers. However the player's agent does intimate that it is still early to talk about transfer gossip.

Oliver Mintzlaff told Sport.co.uk: "Mario Gomez is one of the best strikers in Europe, the best German striker, and the best in the Bundesliga. There is no concrete interest, but it is early, we expect interest. But even with Mario at the moment, it is quiet."

Deadly finisher but still a lanky gimpy player with the ball at his feet. No thanks.

Scored a lot but none of his goals convince me. He doesn't have that touch to succeed here i believe.

      Waste of money.

Every player we look at HAS to be a player who can contribute hugely.

Not just a bit part player filling in for injuries or adding just a little.

We need to sign 3 to 4 QUALITY players.

The next couple oftransfer windows are absolutely crucial.

A left back, centre back and two wingers are most important I think.

Seriously? Gomez saved Bayern this season from being at the very bottom of the Bundesliga. He scored 15 goals in 12 matches or something like that after everyone said he isn't quality. Gomez is absolute quality, just not the modern forward. He's more oldschool, which doesn't make him any worse than he actually is.

Perhaps. I think its because I dont want another out and out striker with Torres.

I'd rather the Suarez type who can drop off and help build up play as well as spearhead us if needed.

All well and good, but what in his game do you think is up to the level we need? He can finish and that is all. He would add nothing to a partnership with Fernando and he would constantly lose the ball. He has a terrible first touch, he isn't overly quick, for a big man he doesn't win the aerial battles as much as he should and he can't pass a ball.

I'd rather Hugo Rodallega than this bloke.

(Not saying we should sign Rodallega, but just highlighting how much i don't want Gomez)

Wouldnt go that far tbh. But wouldnt want him. He would cost too much when the same amount of money would buy a player who would offer us a lot more.

If we were to have gotten him it would have been last window when he was somewhat cheap. His play so far would warrant a price tag that isn't worth it.

I saw him play for Germany in Euro and he was shocking. We better steer clear of this one and I believe now he is starting to get playing time with Bayern so I guess not much chance of this happening which is good for us.

I,d love to see him at the club. I,d go for him maybe on a loan move with the option to buy in the summer. I,d splash the cash for Suarez and get them playing together as we will no doubt lose Torres in the summer.

Watched the game yesterday, he looks sharp and is playing with a lot of confidence. We haven't a hope of getting him now, he's on 19 goals so far this season. They wont let him go.

No chance IMO. If we were going to sign him we would have got him instead of Carroll. Looks to me these are stories are revamped from January. No truth to them IMO.

Quality player, quality finisher and quality header but we have Andy Carroll who can do that.

He's a good but inconsistent player who should have been getting far more out of his talent for how good he can be.

That being said, this is utter bollocks considering our current strike force. He would either push dandy Andy to the bench or sit. This is probably left over from winter when we were actually looking at him, according to reports.

A brilliant player on a good day, but fairly incostistent and I doubt we'd be playing 3 up-front.
Let's get a young promising striker as a back-up, much like manure have done with Hernandez.

      Dalglish makes Gomez enquiry
      5th May 2011 - Transfer Gossip
      23 CommentsEmailPrintShare ArchiveLFC To Go
Sport.co.uk understands that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is planning a summer move for Bayern Munich forward Mario Gomez after enquiring about the availability of the German international.

Liverpool made a previous enquiry in January following Fernando Torres' £50 million transfer to Chelsea, however Dalglish swooped for Ajax's Luis Suarez and Newcastle United's Andy Carroll after having an informal approach rebuffed.

Despite landing the forward pair in January the Scot is still interested in bringing Gomez to Anfield according to a source close to the player, with Dalglish considering a summer swoop for the Munich forward having contacted Bayern Munich regarding the availability of the striker this summer.

Gomez, 25, has netted 24 goals during this year's Bundesliga campaign making him the division's top scorer. The German international is also a contender for the European Golden Shoe, however, he faces competition from Barcelona's Lionel Messi, and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

New Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes replaces Louis Van Gaal on July 1st and has already identified the Manchester City pair of Jerome Boateng and Emmanuel Adebayor as potential targets. Heynckes and Director of Football Christian Nerlinger are already planning a summer overhaul at the Allianz Arena with the club yet to decide who will be leaving at the end of the season.

24 goals and 2 assists in 30 games is certainly very impressive, but wheer I have seen him play he has looked like a slow donkey.

Obviously has something to his game, but very similar height and stature to Carroll. Would require us to sign a good winger or Suarez type to give us creativty.

Don't let the stats fool you I watch alot of Bundesliga and he is a donkey, despite those stats his work ethic makes Berbatov look like a Duracell bunny and the bulk of his goals have come in from 5 yard tap ins.

I just did though didn't i? Can you see that?

Dzeko in Germany was far superior to Gomez. Dzeko is all round class, Gomez is a donkey who adds nothing to a team but a player who makes his name off everyone else doing the hard work and then getting to a rebound first to score. He's F***ing sh*te.

And it's pretty F***ing hard for Dzeko to out score Gomez in a league "he just left" in'it?

Gomez is by no means so prolific as his stats will suggest.

I don't think Kenny'll take the bait on this one. It's only an enquiry, in any rate.

I'd take him.Top clubs have at least three world class strikers.
Imagine Luis,Andy,Mario and Dirk. Happy days!
