A brilliant player on a good day, but fairly incostistent and I doubt we'd be playing 3 up-front.
Let's get a young promising striker as a back-up, much like manure have done with Hernandez.

I don't see in spending another 30 million in a striker. If anything i would pay 20 ish tops. We have other needs than a striker. I would take Benzema though.

I'd like to see the like of Adam Morgan having a chance in first team if necessary than waste money on Mario Gomez.

Would be extremey surprised at this signing, him and Carroll are similar players and I think Carroll is more suited to the Premiership

Had a hatrick today. He has 22 goals in 28 appearances. Most goals in the Bundesliga.

      Dalglish makes Gomez enquiry
      5th May 2011 - Transfer Gossip
      23 CommentsEmailPrintShare ArchiveLFC To Go
Sport.co.uk understands that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is planning a summer move for Bayern Munich forward Mario Gomez after enquiring about the availability of the German international.

Liverpool made a previous enquiry in January following Fernando Torres' £50 million transfer to Chelsea, however Dalglish swooped for Ajax's Luis Suarez and Newcastle United's Andy Carroll after having an informal approach rebuffed.

Despite landing the forward pair in January the Scot is still interested in bringing Gomez to Anfield according to a source close to the player, with Dalglish considering a summer swoop for the Munich forward having contacted Bayern Munich regarding the availability of the striker this summer.

Gomez, 25, has netted 24 goals during this year's Bundesliga campaign making him the division's top scorer. The German international is also a contender for the European Golden Shoe, however, he faces competition from Barcelona's Lionel Messi, and Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

New Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes replaces Louis Van Gaal on July 1st and has already identified the Manchester City pair of Jerome Boateng and Emmanuel Adebayor as potential targets. Heynckes and Director of Football Christian Nerlinger are already planning a summer overhaul at the Allianz Arena with the club yet to decide who will be leaving at the end of the season.

I can't see why it would hurt us. Making an enquiry doesn't necessarily mean we will sign him.

24 goals and 2 assists in 30 games is certainly very impressive, but wheer I have seen him play he has looked like a slow donkey.

Obviously has something to his game, but very similar height and stature to Carroll. Would require us to sign a good winger or Suarez type to give us creativty.

I agree for the money we would spend on Gomez, let's just spend it on Aguero or Sanchez.

Don't let the stats fool you I watch alot of Bundesliga and he is a donkey, despite those stats his work ethic makes Berbatov look like a Duracell bunny and the bulk of his goals have come in from 5 yard tap ins.

Would personally steer well clear from him.

Another thing to look at is why would be get him for a lot of money for him to sit on the bench. He is also a Carroll type player and we would probably go after Wickham before Gomez IMO.

I don't see how you can all Dzeko better than Carroll and then call Gomez a donkey. Gomez is top scorer in the league Dzeko just left.

Would much rather have another top striker who isn't identical to our first choice ie. Carroll

I just did though didn't i? Can you see that?

Dzeko in Germany was far superior to Gomez. Dzeko is all round class, Gomez is a donkey who adds nothing to a team but a player who makes his name off everyone else doing the hard work and then getting to a rebound first to score. He's F***ing sh*te.

And it's pretty F***ing hard for Dzeko to out score Gomez in a league "he just left" in'it?
