His agent says that he will definitely go to Anderlecht there was a hold up regarding the players wages. He is currently on 65K a week and Anderlecht are apparently unable or unwilling to match the figure - you don't say.

      65k a week is quite a lot of money isn't it. It's over 3 million a year.

Take the wages of him, Joe Cole and anyone else who's just wasting space in the dressing room, and you're looking at 10 million a year you could save.

10 million -  the difference between going into the season as we are now, or going into it with a very decent left back.

      Jovanovic close to Anfield exit
Milan Jovanovic has revealed he will find out on Tuesday whether his protracted move from Liverpool to Anderlecht will go through.

The 30-year-old striker only signed for the Reds from Standard Liege last summer but failed to make an impact at Anfield, scoring just twice in 18 appearances.

Standard's fellow Belgian outfit Anderlecht have been in talks with the Serbia international's representatives for several weeks, with the player's reported £65,000 a week wages rumoured to be a stumbling block.

However, Jovanovic is confident the move will go through following a meeting with the club's board on Tuesday.

"On August 2 I will know whether or not I will move to Anderlecht," Jovanovic told Het Laatste Nieuws.

"Then I have a meeting with the board. The interest is serious and the board really wants me.

"There is a big chance an agreement will be made."

If true, this is good news, and hopefully Poulsen and Ngog will follow.

Today, his agent will travel to Liverpool for some paperwork and the deal will be confirmed probably tomorrow. We'll not get any money (except his wages).

Liverpool's Milan Jovanovic agrees two-year deal with Anderlecht
The Serbian attacker looks set to end his unhappy spell on Merseyside after the Belgian club's general manager confirmed that an agreement has finally been reached

Liverpool midfielder Milan Jovanovic is close to joining Anderlecht on a two-year deal, the Belgian club have confirmed.

The Serbian struggled to establish himself at Anfield last season after completing a free transfer from Standard Liege and now looks set to return to Belgium.

“We have been able to finalise an agreement after long and fractious negotiations with Liverpool and the player,” Anderlecht’s general manager Herman van Holsbeeck told RTBF.

“He will add something to Anderlecht and he will without any doubt bring his considerable talent in support of current squad.

“The management are pleased to be able to welcome the player to Brussels.”

Jovanovic will now undergo a medical on Thursday prior to being presented before Friday’s home game against KV Mechelen.

Wish him the best, always seemed like he wanted to prove himself here but just wasn't good enough and was a signing that Rafa was forced into due to the fact he was a free under the previous regime.

He is at least leaving in a respectable manner.  He wasn't up to snuff here, so he is going elsewhere to get his footballing career back on track.  I wish we could say the same of Poulsen, Degen, El Zhar, Cole, etc....

Best of luck lad!  You may not have been a great here, but you did have the right attitude, and for that.... YNWA

So we'll not be paying his remaining wages as that was what I first heard.

Best of luck to him, not the way I envisaged his career to go here, but still.

Thanks for having the decency to free up the wage bill, unlike other dead wood we have hanging around here.

Curious as to why the discussions took so long with Liverpool if hes gone on a free..

Best of luck Milan, as least you decided to go and leave to play some football rather than sit on the bench.
