10 best prospects in world football
      Dec 22, 2010 10:07:40 pm
Who are the best prospects in world football at present? Not generally players we should be chasing as they may already be tied to clubs but just your opinion on who are going to be the next big hings

Obviously we have our own big prospects in Suso, Pacheco and Sterling so maybe keep it at players outside of Liverpool

Ill start with Douglas Costa. The Brazilian currently playing with Donetsk! Free kick specialist who can play on either wing. Perhaps hard to judge how good he can be due to where he plays at present but no doubt he has genuine talent.

Another Brazilian who looks like he will be mega is Inter Milans Coutinho. At 18 hes already played in there first team. Genuine pace and skill make him a wing wizard in waiting

So theres 2 to start off with

A few who I think will be world beaters in the future:

      Javier Pastore
      - He's already a great player at the moment so imagine how good he'll be in a few years. Can play off the striker or in a deeper central-role. However I reckon he's better off the Striker. Has got boss passing for 21 year old.

Sergio Canales - Same as above really. Similar sort of player although I think he'll be better than Pastore.

Eden Hazard - A Liverpool player next season? Hopefully. Atm he plays on the wing although with the right training and guidance he'll probably end up off the front man.

Davide Santon - Versatile player. His main position is right back although he can also play left back, right mid and left mid. Get's forward a lot and will develop into one of the best full backs in the world in a couple of years.

Jordan Henderson - Someone who I really want to see at Liverpool. He's amazing, simple as. Imagine England's WC 2014 midfield consisting of Rodwell, Shelvey and Henderson.

Romelu Lakuku - He's 17 and is so good it's scary. The way he plays is similar to Drogba. Strong, big, etc. Unfortunatley I can see him ending up at Chelsea as a direct replacement for Drogba.

      Ganso
      - Very instrumental for Santos. Has created a lot of goals over their and along with Neymar they are probably the two best youngsters for Brazil. I'd imagine Ganso will be playing off Neymar in the next WC for Brazil.

Yes I realize I've mentioned the most obvious ones.  :f_tongueincheek:

Yeah, Lukaku, now that I think of it, he shares the top of the list with Neymar for me.

Yeah, there's still some interesting prospects in the dutch league, but it's hard to tell to what extend they'll succeed, while with players like Coutinho and Neymar it's almost dead certain they will. The only prospect in the dutch league right now that I'm quite certain will become a worldclass player is Christian Eriksen(18). A very creative technically gifted attacking midfielder/playmaker type player, in the mould of Sneijder, though he's being compared with Michael Laudrup mostly, because he's Danish aswell. Luc Castaignos(18) could become a worldclass striker, Inter Milan are actually working on buying him at the moment from Feyenoord, in their attempt to rejuvenate the squad. Feyenoord have some really talented young players right now though, I can see at least  5 likely future dutch internationals there. Filip Đuričić(18) looks to be very good, very creative player, alot of potential. He's being compared to Cruijff in my country, which is obviously a bit too much, but it says something. Zakaria Labyad(17), he looks to be the new(and possibly improved) Affelay pretty much, will take his spot in the PSV team now that he's off to Barcelona, very creative versatile attacking midfielder/winger. Plenty of other interesting prospects though.

Sebastian Lletget, at West Ham. He's the United States' next great hope. Haven't seen much of him yet, hoping to during the next U-20 cycle. Some West Ham scout said he was the best player at his age (14 or 15 at the time) that he had ever seen at West Ham, including Lampard and Joe Cole. Doesn't mean much, but it's a great compliment.

I think Lukaku will be massive. I thought Kakuta at Chelsea would be, but he seems to be just a dribbler.

There's a chap on Barcelona's books (currently on loan back in Brazil), called Keirrison (sp?) who has looked exceptional for a number of years. Sadly, no matter how good you are at 21/22, there's little chance of getting games in the current barcelona team. I'd love to see Hodgson sacked.

He's been loaned out the past 2 seasons and hasn't looked all that great I think. Couldn't break into Benfica's and Fiorentina's squad last season anyway, and he isn't that young anymore.

I know that Bojan can  no longer be classed as a "prospect" but did you know (depending on which source you read) that he scored 960 goals in 7 years for the barca youth teams before reaching senior level!?

Yeah, think most here know. He's been discussed before on here, he's linked to us almost every transfer period. He might have set the bar a bit too high for himself there.

And Rafa brought in a good couple of the Barca youth set up to work with our kids.

Good move - have them all playing the same systems from youth up to first team, so that when they make their debut, they know exactly what is expected from them in a football sense.
