      Robert Huth (Stoke City)

Ya seriously I'm not taking the piss take, we are being heavily linked to him today for £5 million.

I will have serious questions about NESV and Comoli if this happens because I expect a ridiculous signing like this by Hodgson but for the other two to say they want to make us success and allow this would blow all that out the window.

      http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/851391-robert-huth-is-5m-transfer-target-for-liverpool

Robert Huth is £5m transfer target for Liverpool

Robert Huth could be on the move from Stoke City to Liverpool in the new year after it emerged that Reds boss Roy Hodgson is lining up a £5 million bid for the centre-back.

Liverpool's defensive resources have been stretched in recent weeks, with Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger both sidelined by injury.

Agger may return to action at Blackpool on Boxing Day following his long-term calf problem, but Hodgson and the Reds' director of football strategy Damien Comolli have already decided they need another experienced central defender.

According to the Mirror, the player arriving at Anfield could be Stoke's physically imposing German international centre-back Huth.

Liverpool are said to be prepared to pay £5 million for the 26-year-old, who joined the Potters from Middlesbrough for a similar fee last year.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis would be reluctant to lose the former Chelsea defender, who has started all of City's Premier League games this term.

However, he is short of transfer funds and selling Huth would allow him to strengthen other areas of his squad.

Liverpool are also expected to move for Rennes midfielder Yann Mvila and a winger, with Wigan Athletic's Charles N'Zogbia and Aston Villa's Ashley Young among their likely targets.

Personally I don't think CB is our problem and should not be a priorty signing, we should be addressing LB RW LW for the first team and then a proper striker to play either alongside Torres or deputise in case of injuries.

Oh and Huth I don't rate him.

Imagine if we did buy him for £5 million, he will have spent about £17 million on Poulsen, Konchesky, Jones and Huth.

That is undefendable and shows he has us bang on target to be a mid table team.

Agger is the future, but Agger and Sotis is the partnership for me after Carra retires. This bloke is better than Skrtel though. Why didn't he go for Hangeland?

To be upbeat about it, he doesn't fit the NESV profile, so it's unlikely to happen.

What about Kjaer? anyone heard how he's been doing lately?

Bit of a scapegoat for their poor form, but definitely playing sh*te IMO.

The answer is in the provider, corbally mate.

Paper trash, the whole lot of it. Their job is to make stories and get us talking about it. 99% of what we read will be false, the other 1% will be still false but further down the track it will eventuate by sheer coincidence.

I doubt we'll sign more than 2 players we have in this whole board that we are officially linked to.

Although i don't rat him as a quality player or anything, he may be a good addition as back-up. However, when you consider that Carra is out for only a a few months, if we are going to throw money for a player, it may as well be of the quality that LFC need. Therefore, unless its on loan, which isn't going to happen, no to this one.

For £5 million Semple, that would make about £17 million he has spent on Poulsen Jones Konchesky and Huth. It all adds up no more second rate sh*te, he is not even Stokes best defender.

More proof Hodgson is making us the new Stoke.

He's not the worst player in the world, and perhaps Roy is seeing him as a replacement for Kyri. Still though, I wouldn't sign him in a million years. We've got Kelly and Wilson coming through (among others) and we still have DAgger to come back in to the side.

If this is the marquee signing we were hoping for I'm genuinely worried about the direction we are going as a club. Why waste £5 million on a journeyman 26 year old centre half.

We have Wilson Kelly and Ayala who are all good prospects for that position. We also currently have Carragher Agger Skrtel and Sotis for that position. What exactly is the logic behind such a F***ing ridiculous signing.

Roy Hodgson is a F***ing joke we all know that but what would the reason be for NESV and Comoli for sanctioning this.

Shocking stuff Blood if true, it will have meant he will have spent £17 million plus on absolute muck, Poulsen Jones Konchesky and Huth.

We could have gone for a Mata or Hazard with that money. Even more shocking from NESV to be honest, Huth is hardly a player for the future a player that will make our first 11 stronger or a player the fans will be excited.

And anyway when a new manager comes in in the Summer he will be getting rid of players like Huth, Konchesky and Poulsen. Madness and it doesn't bode well for the future if true. If Carlton Cole comes as well I will have serious serious doubts over NESV.

Said as well we are only buying players for the starting 11, does that mean we will have a defence containing Konchesky and Huth.

Oh my F***ing days this getting F***ing ridiculous now. I want to ask John Henry why he allowing a manager to blow money on a lad clearly not good enough when he tells us he will be listening to fans who by recent polls 96% of fans want Hodgson gone.

I'm starting to get worried, I don't think NESV could make a more underwhelming first signing.

Supposedly Woy was an admirer of this lad in his Fulham days, I thought these horror signings were gone with the end of the Hicks and Gillette tenure.

F**k me I'm starting to hope we F***ing lose the next few matches to scupper any signings Hodgson may be planning in January.

Simon Clancy is on twitter now saying Hodgson gives out about having to clean up the sh*t after Rafa, imagine the job the next manager will have trying to get rid of the dead wood brought in by Hodgson

Oh my f**king days this getting f**king ridiculous now. I want to ask John Henry why he allowing a manager to blow money on a lad clearly not good enough when he tells us he will be listening to fans who by recent polls 96% of fans want Hodgson gone.

Agree with your views on the player, but stop talking like if it was a done deal, no need to crucify Roy for something he didn't do, and possibly never intended to.

Not that we don't have many other reasons to crucify him (I want him gone, too), I just find it odd how one day we're laughing at the press (Pepe to United, for example) and the other we're taking their words as the truth.

Huth may or may not think he's due a move to LFC, but apparently he's not on the club's wanted list. Panic over.

I crucifying him because it is as clear as f**king day he is trying to sign him unless you think a) it is either made up and Simon Clancy and Paul Tomkins are talking sh*t on Twitter and Robert Huth is deluding himself telling Simon Clancy it is happening or b) you think he is a transfer target of Comoli or NESV.

Neither Paul Tomkins or Simon Clancy linked Reina to Utd, it is about who says it Diego, there is a lot of people working in the media some people are more reliable.

Just read Tomkins update, I can chill now. This signing would be scandalous to say the least. Paul Tomkins is the most reliable Liverpool journalist around.

Twitters going into to Melt Down over this.

Personally I don't think we'll get him, unless Roy is considering letting go Agger or Soto.

All the rumours are that Agger is the one getting binned.

Apparently we've been touting him round clubs trying to get shut.

      Reds make Huth enquiry
Skysports.com understands Liverpool have made a firm enquiry for Robert Huth.

However, Stoke appear intent on keeping the Germany international.

Huth has played over 20 times for the Potters already this season and is proving he is well over the fitness concerns which blighted his previous spells with Chelsea and Middlesbrough.

The towering centre-back moved to the Britannia Stadium in the summer of 2009 when Stoke paid Boro £5million for his services.

Tony Pulis has been delighted by Huth's impact but his form has attracted the attention of rival clubs, including Liverpool.

Skysports.com understand that the Reds made an enquiry earlier this week.

It is believed the struggling Anfield outfit would have been willing to pay £5million, but it is understood Stoke would want double that before even considering doing a deal.

What an unambitious signing this would be, fair enough he's a big strong centre back who can get his head on the ball but isn't that more of what we already have and of a better calibre, certainly Kyrgiakos and to a lesser extent Skrtel who's slightly better overall, surely we've got enough big slow defenders surely.

He's a decent player who clearly fits into the type of tactic that Stoke employ, but surely we can go for a bit better than this, maybe dare I suggest extend our sights further than premier league teams of a lesser reputation. I suppose he could be a good backup player but we already know how inflated the prices get when you sign a player from your own division.

Stoke defender Robert Huth insists he has not received any contact from Liverpool regarding a possible move to Anfield in the transfer window.

Skysports.com reported earlier on Thursday that the misfiring Reds have made a 'firm enquiry' about the German centre-back.

Under-pressure Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson and director of football strategy Damien Comolli have repeatedly been linked with a move for Huth in a bid to strengthen their defence.

With Jamie Carragher still injured, the weaknesses in the club's back four were horribly exposed in Wednesday night's defeat at Blackburn, which may have increased the determination to make a January signing.

      Happy

But Huth, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract after being brought back to the Premier League from Middlesbrough in 2009, told The Sentinel: "I've heard nothing from Liverpool.

"I have a contract with Stoke. I am sure they are happy with what I am doing, and I am also happy.

"Being relegated is never nice, so it is great Stoke gave me the chance to come back. I am happy that, apart from suspension, I have played in every game."

Huth cost Stoke a then club-record £6million when he arrived 16 months ago and chairman Peter Coates is not planning to sell the 26-year-old.

He said: "We know nothing about it and, besides, he is very much a player we want to keep. We don't have to sell."

I think we have enough senior centre backs, plus Kelly, Wilson and Ayala on loan.  It would be wasted money.
