Is 26 an age that FSG will be alright with?

For a centre back he's approaching his prime. Not too old at all.

Mertesacker is a good defender but I don't want him here as he very much lacks pace. I'd rather have one of Cahill, Shawcross or Samba with premier league experience.

It's not always about pace, the first two yards are in your head, thats why Sami was so F***ing special!

I'd take the Kraut over the other three mentioned.

For a CB, yeah. Agger is about that age isn't he?

Again not a huge admirer, but it all depends how he is deployed, and who with. He is a big presence at the back no doubt, strong, good in both boxes in the air, but slow over the ground and with poor reactions.

Needs to be played alongside a good ball playing CB such as Agger, otherwise we will be stuck with the same problems we have now when either of Skrtel, Carra and Sotis start together.

If Agger is going then I won't accept Mertesaker or anyone the other names as a replacement, it'd be a trade down and not a thing will persuade me otherwise. Plus we have Wilson and Ayala coming through.

No thank you, very dodgy defender if you ask me, too clumsy.

Excuse me? Clumsy? So I guess sticking with the fault free Skrtle is fine. I'd sell Skrtle at an instant and buy this guy who I've seen a lot of the time and when good - boy is he good. Anything would be an improvement on Skrtle.

Sick of seeing us linked to central defenders, it's about the only position we have any depth in.

We have two ageing and slow ones, the not really reliable Skrtel and the impressive but injury prone Agger, and our defense is actually one of the worst of PL.
Of course there are Kelly, Ayala and/or Wilson who may become first team material soon, but they may also fail to make the grade.

I find rather logical that we try to buy a proven central defender in his prime, if buying a good left back is probably more a priority.

Our defense is chronic this year. Check the stats but the reason we are in minus goal difference owes more to concededing

Depth? Apart from Agger we've got an ageing legend, a below standard Greek, a sloppy Slovakian? Yeah sounds like proper depth doesn't it. A depth of sh*t perhaps.

Agger would be the last one of our current central defenders i'd sell. What the F**k are they thinking of. All I can think of, is they know something about a long term fitness(injury) problem, and are cashing in while he's fit. As a C. D. he's the best we've got imo.
Is Mertesacker prone to hoofing the ball 60yds ? Mabey that's the draw for Woy.

A fantastic defender Per is, would love him here would make a perfect partner for Agger.

Would offload Skrtel at his expense and not Agger as Skrtel has not been half the player he was since that knee injury against City. Might sound strange also but Skrtel has played too long next to Carra and has picked up his hoof mentality.

Been saying for ages we should nab this fella, a central defensive pairing of Agger and Mertesacker would be fantastic.

Stopped reading after the "off load Agger" bit. Take Skrtel no probs but F**k off with getting rid of Agger!  :f_steam:
