The basic fact is, and this is worrying if NESV don't recognise it, is that this team is in drastic need of change. Benitez to Hodgson was not change and a return for Rafa is not change either. This team needs a new era to start immediately, someone who recognises that the majority of this squad is not even close to decent. Roy is not going to do that and will never do that. Perhaps it comes in the form of Ralf Rangnick and I have no doubts that it will come in the form of Didier Deschamps but one thing is for sure this team is in need of desperate change.
So what change is needed? Apart from the management department let's look at the playing staff. For a start the likes of David N'Gog, Soto Kyriagkos, Paul Konchesky, Christian Poulsen and I'm afraid Lucas will all have to leave. There are far more worthy players out there than this bunch. Collectively they have offered Sweet FA. You may say why is Lucas there? When he's good he's decent but when he's bad he is shockingly bad and lately we have seen this yet again. Most players of his price can do the job on a far more consistent basis. He is a player who crumbles in games against teams we should be beating. I thought briefly that he was worthy of playing for Liverpool this season. The last couple of months have made up my mind. Lucas can follow Hodgson out the door and I wouldn't shed a tear. They are all utterly well below standard for what is required of a mid table Premier league club (which we are at present) and certainly embarassing for a club of Liverpool's stature.
And what's with the corny, undeserved support of some of these players? What the hell does it mean in matches like these saying 'Ohhh you're being harsh on N'Gog - he's improving or 'Lucas is playing MUCH better than he ever has'. That means F**k ALL when you're Liverpool FC and you're 12th in the league. Is this what we, the Liverpool FC supporters, have come to? Defending players who have absolutely no right to be defended?
