Wayne Routledge (Newcastle United)

Liverpool are being linked with a January move for Newcastle United winger Wayne Routledge.


The 25-year-old joined the Toon a year ago from Championship outfit QPR, and now Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is reportedly ready to make an offer for the player.

An £8 million valuation is believed to have been placed on the player's head by Alan Pardew, who has used the winger sparingly since his arrival at St James' Park.

The Metro claims the Hodgson's interest in Routledge has peaked after the Anfield outfit were priced out of a move for Charles N'Zogbia, and the Liverpool boss is keen to add width and pace in the transfer window.

Seems like the type of player he'd go for to be honest, On the look out for a player who isn't good enough for the Newcastle side and for eight million! Makes you envy United's scouting system in contrast since they signed a very exciting prospect in Javier Hernandez for around the same price.

Truth is even with today's inflated prices you can still get a very good player for eight million pounds, rather than an average 25 year old winger.

Also Barca signed Ibrahim Afellay for about 2 million, really puts things into perspective.
