I was sure that Madrid had a 4 million buy back clause on him that they activated, did they just sell him straight to Sevilla after that?

I've seen some youtube clips (the greatest way to get an accurate look at a player) of him but I've never actually properly watched him so can't really comment on whether he'd be a good signing or not.

He's not bad, but Sevilla is having an awful season, comparable to ours in actuality. Not surprising they might be looking to sell off.

I've seen him in action a few times.  He is quality, but 17 million is way too much for him!!  I'd be happy if we could get him for around 10-12 million, but anything more than that is over the odds.

I think if it had been up to Rafa, he probably would have accepted this offer.  The reason we held out for a cash only deal was so H&G could put much of it towards servicing interest payments.

Liverpool have been given the green light to make a £17m offer for Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo.

Negredo, 25, has been attracting interest from a number of top clubs following his impressive displays in La Liga.

Liverpool are keen to bolster their forward line and give some much needed support to Fernando Torres who looks well below his best this season.

Kenny Dalglish has just taken charge of first-team affairs but the club have been working hard to bring new faces into the squad.

Reports in Spain suggest that Sevilla would not block a sizeable bid for their star forward and would consider a £17m offer.

Negredo is refusing to be affected by all the speculation surrounding his long-term future but is aware of the interest from Liverpool.

Negredo said: "I read something, but my representative has said there is nothing happening at the moment. I am comfortable with the situation and will just focus on playing for Sevilla."

He's a good player but he does have a habit of getting himself sent off a few times for really petty things.

Don't rate the lad, he has flopped miserably at Sevilla, he is a big lumbering lad who is no more worth £17 million than the man on the moon, if he was available for £5 million or on loan maybe worth a gamble but this lad is far from top class.

He's actually been very good for Sevilla this season.

Just watched a few clips on u tube, looked ok but don't know if he's what we want right now. Wot u think about Adebiyor from city. Alright he silks a bit bit so did Annelka , but when he came to anfield he was a great lad to have around. Just an idea guys.

put everything into suarez first

Just watched a Sevilla compilation. He is rather good if not excellent.

The advantage he has compared to our actual strikers or Suarez is he is strong and has a really good aerial play, making him a more than decent target man, so an interesting option to have, alongside a more technical/faster striker. Also has a little something of Higuain, the kind of player not impressive with the ball but always well placed to push it in the net.

Now he is far to be worth 17m imho. 10 perhaps. He is already 25, unlikely to improve a lot.

Don't rate him at all to be honest would be gutted if we signed him instead of Suarez has been in and out of the Sevilla side this season with Kanuote keeping him out on occasions.

Sunderland want £15million-rated Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo to replace Darren Bent.

But Black Cats boss Steve Bruce knows he faces a fight to sign the 26-year-old Spain forward as Liverpool are also showing an interest.
