Fair enough but the earth has been heating up and cooling down for millions of years and man didn’t cause that , it’s always gone through cycles that is a fact , it’s like the myth of the wind farm , takes 25 years for one to become green by which time it needs replacing but hey let’s cover the land in them .
Yes, it has always gone through cycles, but the point is that the effect of anthropogenic warming is accelerating the heating part of those cycles, leading us to a place that is not sustainable for human life.
Climate change caused by global warming, in the upwards trend we see now in temperatures is probably going to be an extinction level event, bearing in mind that many previous extinction level events haven't happened overnight, but have taken decades or even centuries to come about.
The problem is that humans inevitably think short term, because we live relatively short lives, so we see the thinking of "it won't happen in my lifetime, so F**k it". Well, it may very well happen in our lifetimes.
