An organisation employing 22,000 people will always have staff who go rogue and don't adhere to their rules and guidelines....much like the police or the military. The BBC, admittedly far from perfect, is the gold standard when it comes to public service broadcasting....anywhere .
Good, bad or indifferent you still have to pay. £170 a year. Is it worth the money. Debatable obviously. It's a flat rate regardless of your income level. You have no say, you pay whether you watch it or not.
When the fee was introduced in the early 60's BBC was more or less the only broadcaster. So much more choice now. All the others have to raise their own revenues. Hardly a level playing field. I mean I pay for Sky TV..that's my choice.
They do obviously make some good stuff, but they have £3 nearly £4 billion quid to play with and more through their commercial stuff. There must be crossover in terms money spent on productions. I mean do any executives get incentive pay regarding the private stuff they do?
