My take on the likes of Lineker are that he, like everybody else is entitled to his opinion, but he's mainstream football and in openly attracting publicity for his political and social views, he is in effect opening it up for journalist to ask political type questions to sports men and women.

Bobby Robson, when he was EM, was once asked an overtly political question and he rightly rounded on the journalist and told him bluntly.." Don't ask me political questions, I'm a sportsman not a bloody politician".

No body has to do both. Everyone has a choice of what words come from their mouth once opened. Unfortunately, some individuals think they are a presence to have an opinion on all matters. Even subjects they clearly have very little knowledge about. They'd be better off just keeping to the subjects they are employed to oversee.

Take away the BBC and people will soon know what we've lost.

All those who complain about it, I guess they never use iplayer, the radio, click on BBC Sport, BBC News. I guess all their favourite programmes in this and past eras were on ITV or Sky. I'm guessing they never once watched an educational video / documentary at school that the BBC produced. Never laughed at Fawlty Towers, Only Fools, Alan Partridge, The Office...Never listened to 5 live on a Saturday afternoon for the football or tuned in at 5 for the scores. Never been half way round the world to flick on the World Service and hear Liverpool at Anfield on a Wednesday night in Europe.

Don't think I said any of that does put them above criticism or implied it. For me it shows that the public good that the BBC provides completely admonishes any argument to get rid of it (usually the preserve of far right types)

No but he should f***in know better, I don’t get that it was a spur of the moment comment or off the cuff, any correlation between holliganism & Hillsborough is going to flash like a beacon, professionally he knows that even the slightest mention of a hooligan element whilst mentioning Hillsborough in the same sentence will cause concern,

I'm not sure if he's biassed against us or he just likes the underdog which we rarely are these days. Whichever way he's hard to stomach on our matches.

He seems old, tired and bored by it all now. His latest comments are extremely insensitive and callous and in my opinion show strong signs of him losing his cognitive functions.

I think Sky will phase him out into retirement pretty soon.

His employers over the years have repeatedly failed us by turning a blind eye/ear to his contemptible horseshit. He, and they are a disgrace.
As ignorant as Tyler's latest remarks are, and they are off the scale in terms of the offence caused, I find your comment frankly distasteful and shocking.
The people of this City, and the greater LFC fanbase, have a unique instinct to sniff out and call out injustice when, and wherever it pops up. But we also have a long tradition of tolerance and balance. Calling for his violent demise feels way over the top and wrong.

The level of vitriol in the OP I found genuinely unpleasant, I didn't really take it as a call for some kind of organised fatwa against the pr**k.

We have Mods to deal with stuff you dont need to act all offended and if you take postings literally every time your going to be offended a lot.

Honestly I don't think he meant it as he said it as HR mentioned above.

I wasn't acting offended. The OP read to me as unpleasant. Language is open to interpretation, and my post reflected that, nothing more nothing less. His central point about the broadcaster I agree with.
