Football Focus removed from today... now Bargain Hunt. What a cluster f**k thus is by the BBC.... and I'm loving it.

Some twee, inoffensive old people's programming. That will suit that c**t Tory Chairman of the BBC just fine.

The stench of hypocrisy coming from ToryBBC is worse than the stink that came off the Thames before the sewers were built.

Could be the sewers have gone in reverse and all the sh*ite has ended up in BBC Broadcasting house in Portland place,London.

Day in day out there is  Tory bias at the BBC. Latest was removing all the Hancock stories from the website just after noon. They do this on a regular basis. Tory bad news stories get taken down before 2 pm...the site gets max hits around 4 ish thru to 7 ish.

Blatant hypocrisy from Government controlled BBC.

He’s been criticised for not ‘understanding’ the holocaust.
A lot of Jews have criticised him because of how the nazis were.
Anti Semitic abuse has been aimed at him and some of his followers in twitter apparently.

You can’t compare anything to the nazis without the Jews being offended.

Whether you agree or disagree with GL's original twitter message, the broader point focusses on whether he broke BBC guidelines. The guidelines are quite clear relating to News presenters and current affair staff, but remain opaque for entertainment etc. It gets even cloudier when he you are hired as a freelancer. The BBC needed to have a clearer policy to minimise any ambiguity or conflict of interest.
For what it's worth, I believe in a person's right to an opinion, and by and large the right to give that opinion. Of course there are laws which are in place to protect people from deliberately harmful content.
IMO Lineker's tweet was neither intended, or indeed was offensive.

Lineker's not some political naive pundit. He was making the 'holocaust' connection for impact. He also knew it would be the acid test for the BBC. regarding his position. Might agree with him to a degree but he gets no sympathy. He knows the score.

With my natural dislike of the celebrity culture I would normally ignore this type of stuff but it's just the hypocrisy of the BBC that pisses me off.

I don’t mind the Jewish folk.
But jimmy carr mocked the gypsies in the gas chamber and gets a little abuse but keeps his jobs. Gary lineker compares one aspect of government policy to a nazi policy and he’s anti Jewish?

As for the vaccine, you want to read some of Matt hancocks leaks mate. And some of the misleading stats. Unless you were vulnerable or old you were basically suckered into it. Sucker.

Lineker needs to go for his appalling comparison, but the chairman of the BBC should have been fired a couple of years back. Biggest sleaze ball I know of.

It's not an appalling comparison, it's spot F***ing on! He wasn't comparing anything to the Holocaust, but the language used in Nazi Germany to whip up hatred towards the Jewish population and we all know where that led.

      Lineker is F***ing right 100%

Of course Linekar gets sympathy. He's watched as the likes of Alan Sugar are allowed to say whatever the F**k they want for years but it's alright because it's all right wing sh*te. He's watched as the BBC's top man is now someone that's donated 400k to the Tories and secured an 800k loan for Johnson. And then he goes out and says one thing that's absolutely spot on and gets suspended because the BBC have bowed down to government pressure. He's also a sports presenter not the F***ing political editor of the BBC.

Linekar is spot on and deserves our support.

The following is from the Twitter account of Andy Bell, who claims to have worked in the BBC. If you don't want to read it all, the most important point is in the last paragraph. Hands up if you think Lineker was expressing the view of the BBC.

      Andy Bell
      @andybell2000
Permit me an observation on the controversy surrounding @garylineker's view on immigration and asylum as expressed in his now notorious tweet. I worked in the BBC's Editorial Complaints Unit for around a decade, adjudicating on complaints that there had been breaches of the BBC's editorial standards, including precisely such issues as those raised by the Lineker case.
The first step is to consider exactly what the BBC's (excellent) Editorial Guidlines have to say on the matter. This might seem pretty obvious but it appears to have been overlooked by most people atttacking Lineker, not least of all the Culture Secretary, Michelle Donelan. So, the relevant guideline here is this:
"15.3.13 Where individuals identify themselves as being linked with the BBC, or are programme makers, editorial staff, reporters or presenters primarily associated with the BBC, their public expressions of opinion have the potential to compromise the BBC’s impartiality and to damage its reputation. This includes the use of social media and writing letters to the press. Opinions expressed on social media are put into the public domain, can be shared and are searchable... The risk is greater where the public expressions of opinion overlap with the area of the individual’s work. The risk is lower where an individual is expressing views publicly on an unrelated area, for example, a sports or science presenter expressing views on politics or the arts."
All very sensible, as the Guidelines invariably are. And, note, they give as an example almost precisely the set of circumstances we are actually considering here.

So, the question is not whether Lineker, as a BBC employee (some of the time at least) is entitled to express such a view but whether, if he does, there is any real risk that the BBC's own impartiality might be compromised. In other words, might the view he expresses be taken to be the view of the BBC. Even the guidelines concede that in these particular circumstances the risk is low. Hands up those who think there is any such risk at all...
      No, thought not.
