Beckham had no pace, no ability to beat a player. Not very good in tight spaces. Probably one of the reasons Fergie refused to play him as a CM.

Also that Greece game for England everyone tries to tout as a great performance was horrendous. He constantly lost the ball, drifted in to CM position and ran around like a headless chicken. He took 10 free kicks on goal and eventually scored 1. To draw 2-2 at the last minute.

He had good crossing ability from set pieces and relatively accurate Hollywood passes.

He had "Pretty Privilege". If he looked like Vinny Samways no one would care about him.

For me beckham was a very good player. One of the best set piece takers iv seen. Put the effort in and scored better than one in five for united.
Him and Gary Neville were a perfect match.

That’s a fair comment but you’ll rarely see me make a post with rose tints. Actually, I better take that back, I never say a bad word about Klopp & Souness

There's a difference between thinking someone is sh*t and someone is overrated. There was a thread on here years ago about the most overrated players in the world (somebody said Messi if I remember rightly). And that's the category Beckham falls into. He was a decent player in a great side and all great sides need players like that but he was still vastly overrated. He's not the only person to be guilty of that.

First commentator I noticed with the "it really is" thing was Ally McCoist. Puts it at the end of every other sentence. Don't know if he started a trend cos now loads of them do it. McCoist is not the worst commentator but, once you notice his "it really is"s, it can get on your nerves.

Aye I've noticed that McCoist is bad for it but he only does the odd game here and there so I don't have to put up with him too much. I don't remember him saying it that much when he used the Champions League games on Granada.

And I don't go along with most that he's some sort of breath of fresh when it comes to commentating. I watched the Old Firm the other day with him on Sky and he was just handing out the usual drivel like the rest do. Felt like he was trying too hard to praise Celtic so he couldn't be accused of favouritism - even though Celtic didn't play as well as they can.

He was the best captain I've seen on Question of Sport though.

I played with him once. Nice chap. It was a 6 a side tournament with Andy goram and mark walters, prytz and a couple of others including me. He was sound as a pound. Prytz however was screaming at every misplaced pass.
But yeah, He was always a nice bloke to talk to.

Yeah well he was an ok pundit awhile ago but now he does that constipated dying for a poo thing Carra and Neville do because that's the thing now, he was good at one point though, no going back but still better than those other two. But he's a copycat so yeah even worse.
