There's a name I'd love to see here, Cavani.

He's on loan at Napoli, could only be bought in the summer.

I personally rate Carroll very very highly. If he was Spanish or Italian, everyone would be wanking over him. He could be extremely dangerous up front for us.
The price, to me is not our concern. As long as buying him doesn't stop us from getting other players Kenny might want then I couldn't care less if it's £4m or £40m. We don't know what funds FSG have anyway.
Once again, I will resort to blind faith in the club to do the right thing.

      geordies having a laff.
30 million my arse. what a waste of 20 million that would be IMO.
just because he scored against  us doesnt mean he s in the 30 million bracket  of player.
      thanks but no thanks.

I think the fact that Barca paid 34.2 million for Villa puts the Carroll bid into perspective. I think he would be a good signing but no way at that price.

Carroll for 30mil? F**k off. Not a penny over 15mil. He's nowhere near 30 mil. Plus he's injured.

Remember the days when we had to make money from transfers to pay off debt?

Puts this bid in perspective for me that.

Overpriced by 15m.The money could be spent more wisely; But I put my trust in kenny and bow to his superior knowledge. If we have a good end to the season the price wont matter

This is a good point, it's fantastic to see the owners willing to get the cheque book out but we don't want to be taken for mugs now because it only sets a precedent! Just look at Man City's dealings.

If Torres wasn't going to be sold we wouldn't be in for Carroll, I'm not saying we wouldn't be in for Young, but the money we have to spend on Carroll is directly linked to Torres going.

Interesting to hear on SSN that it is believed that LFC will return to Newcastle this afternoon with another bid.

Great to see us prepared to spend cash but I hope to God we arent going to throw moneya round stupidly. Hes not a 30 million pound player. If we offered that and were rejected leave it there!!

Ignore the price-tag or cost (it's not my F***ing money after all) the question is: will he add to the team and help us win games and trophies?

      I'm saying yes.

      Very true.

I'm all for Carroll but maybe not for £30m.

But if Kenny wants this to happen he'll have to shell out and I'm behind his decision.

I'd love him. He's a brilliant striker and goalscorer.

And as you've said, 30 million might not be your money, but it's the clubs to spend on other players.

So the question is, can we get someone better for 30 Million? Not sure :-\ Anyone at that price is a gamble.

I agree 30 mill is a joke of a price but isn't it nice to have thoose sort of funds available?
Anyway carroll has done well so far and I reckon he could have a great partnership with suarez

Theres very few players in tle world that are worth spending ridiculous amounts on,And paying 20 million+ for a player you would want him to have a huge impact on your club.

With our situation at the moment I would be reluctant to splash out on big money signings who aren't worth half of there value e.g
      Ramires-22 million to Chelsea
      Kolarov-19 million  to Man City
David Silva-32 million to man City

If you were to pay 20 million plus for a player who would you pick and why ?

My choice would be to bolster our strikeforce Andy Carroll If he was from any other country you would probably pay between 12-16 million for him but being English I think he would cost about 20 million. He's a proper centre forward and for only 19 years old he's frighteningly good I think he'd suit playing with Torres perfectly.

I wrote that ages ago and i stand by that !

Precisely. I'll say it again, the cost is of no concern to me. The money men will know what we can afford.

Are we panic buying paying over 30m for Carroll? I think he's a super player but for over 30m!!! Its a bit much.
