Actually, Dzeko's return is 6 goals in 21 matches for City, and Carroll's is 2 goals in 9 matches for LFC ... Not that it really matters in this thread ...

So why bring it up mate??

Because I've posted a formation of their possible attack with Sanchez on the team, and people felt the urge to discuss Dzeko and Tevez instead of Sanchez ...

Was going on league games as we were already out of the Cup by the time Andy was fit to play.

But as has been said not important in the Sanchez thread.

So you had the urge to respond by comparing him unfavourably to Caroll?  I get it now

      Jeffren refuses Udinese
      via Football Italia

Reports from Spain suggest Barcelona’s bid for Alexis Sanchez has hit problems, letting Manchester City back in the race for the Udinese star.
Barça had been expected to complete the signing of Chile international Sanchez this week for €39m, including performance-related bonuses, plus Jeffren.

However, radio station Ona FM claim negotiations hit a big stumbling block late this afternoon.

It seems that forward Jeffren has refused the move to Udinese in part-exchange for El Nino Maravilla.

Unless the two clubs can decide on another player to be included in the deal, this could let Manchester City back into the race for Sanchez.

Sky Sport Italia suggest Udinese want the Chilean to accept City’s offer of €40m plus €5m in bonuses.

Bad news, he might go to City.
Good news, Adam Johnson will start to feel crowded and might want out.

Dzeko has been sh*te. I love him as a player, i think only reading my off topic posts in the Carroll player thread would show how much i rate him, but at City he's gone spunk thanks to Mancini.

If Adam Johnson improves this team then get him, regardless of whether City buy Alexis Sanchez or not.

Sanchez refuses to board plane to Manchester for City talks

      Published 23:01 22/06/11
      By Alan Nixon

Alexis Sanchez turned into a non-flying winger when he refused to get on a plane to join Manchester City in a stunning Ā£30 million deal.

Chilean star Sanchez was cleared to leave his countryā€™s training camp to speak to City about a move to the Premier League after the megabucks outfit stepped ahead of Barcelona and Manchester United with the best bid.

However Sanchez rocked his club Udinese by telling them he would not go as he does not consider City to be his favoured option - he would rather join United or speak to Barca to find out their plans.

The drama was played out at Santiago airport where media gathered to see Sanchez fly off - only to find out he had put the block on the transfer.

Sanchez thought he was going to speak to Champions League Barca, but their offer of a player plus cash was rejected by Udinese who preferred Cityā€™s hard cash over the Spanish package or Unitedā€™s Ā£27 million offer.

However the exciting attacking star has now decided to have his say in the transfer tug-of-war and his action leaves United and Barca trying to persuade Udinese to take less money.

Barca only want to commit Ā£22 million to the deal and have offered a selection of swaps, but their fringe men like Bjoan Krkic, Thiago Alcantara and Jeffren have said ā€˜no thanksā€™ to Udinese.

United are sitting comfortably in the background, still confident that their straight-cash deal will win the day - although time is also a factor in the race.

Sanchez is due to play for Chile in the Copa America which starts in a week. His national federation do not want to risk him appearing in case he is injured, while Udinese want him sold by then to spend the money.

We should snap him up. But then again Barca would want 50m for him, eh Mac_Red?

Come on Barca. Step it up. It'd make me sick to see him at ManU.

He's a superb young player. I stick by saying we should of pushed hard for him before Henderson but not exactly disappointed signing Jordan. If it didn't work out, we end up with Henderson and we're in the same position as we are now.

But on topic, happy to see my estimation of Sanchez has come through by him turning City down. Smart kid.

He might be available in a deal like ''Bojan to AS Roma'' (a buy-back option in 2 years), but I am really not a big fan of such a deal ...

      Sanchez snubs Man City?

      Tuesday 28 June, 2011

Itā€™s reported Alexis Sanchez has rejected Manchester City. ā€œIf I donā€™t join Barcelona, then Iā€™m staying at Udinese.ā€

The Chilean international is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between the Nou Camp and Eastlands this summer.

So far neither side has been able to hit the ā‚¬50m price-tag, but Spanish newspapers feel there can only be one winner.

ā€œIf I donā€™t join Barcelona, then Iā€™m staying at Udinese,ā€ Sanchez told his agent, according to El Mundo Deportivo sources.

It has already been suggested numerous times in Italy, Spain and Chile that El Nino Maravilla has a clear preference for BarƧa.

      Mancini - Sanchez interest over
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has ruled out a summer swoop for Udinese's in-demand winger Alexis Sanchez.

The Chile international has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football with a host of clubs all battling for his signature this summer.

City are understood to have tabled the highest bid for the 22-year-old - reported to be in the region of Ā£30million - but Udinese value their prize asset at a staggering Ā£44million.

Barcelona have rivalled the Eastlands outfit's interest in Sanchez and now Mancini has called time on his pursuit of the gifted wide man, despite holding positive initial talks with the player.

Mancini told Sky Italia: "I talked to Sanchez, he said he was willing to come to City.

"But after the last offer we are out of the race for the Chilean player."

      Barca make 'definitive' Sanchez offer

      Wednesday 29 June, 2011

Alexis Sanchez only wants Barcelona and now the Spaniards have set an ultimatum for Udinese with their ā€œdefinitive offer.ā€

Today the Friulani confessed Sanchez had rejected Manchester City or any destination that was not the Nou Camp, but hold firm on his ā‚¬40m price-tag.

Now that City have pulled out of the bidding war, BarƧa have sent out a clear message.

ā€œWe are waiting for a response from Udinese,ā€ a spokesperson told Spanish news agency EFE.

ā€œBarcelona made a definitive offer for the player and we will not change the parameters indicated.ā€

Although the details of this offer are not formally known, they are believed to be ā‚¬27m cash plus another ā‚¬13m in performance-related bonuses.

However, Udinese were offered far more by Manchester City, so are holding out for the total ā‚¬40m up front.

Some clubs (not excluding us in some cases) are getting so stupid in demanding/paying horrendously large fees. 40m up front...not even a F***ing stupid billionare would pay that. Yes Sanchez is a good player; is he outstanding to the level of Messi's and Ronaldo's of the world? no way. Udinese are best to just sell up or shut up and stop spouting sh*t into the media and a general public who don't give a flying F**k.

The market has decided his price and rather 40m for him that 20m for Downing.

Sanchez is their play maker, and of course how he plays has a huge bearing on Udinese, but their style suits Di Natale. He is allowed to poach up front and have a strong midfield behind him to allow him to do less running off the ball. Sanchez was moved centrally to create space for Di Natale. That was what Guidolin also said.

Di Natale is a focal point because he's a better finisher but the team is built literally around Sanchez. Look at how many touches he has. He's everything to them. Take him out and their team completely changes. Yes it's down to his talent but it's also down to the "Gerrard" factor of when you build a team around a player. Gerrard also played everywhere for us but we were still a team built around him.
