It is reported that Udinese chairman Franco Soldati says a bid of about £25.4M has been made for Alexis Sanchez.

I don't watch much Italian football, so could someone tell me does Sanchez play in a similar role to Lavezzi, and in your opinion who would be a better "fit" for Liverpool.

My son watches Italian football quite a bit and he seems to think Lavezzi is "the next best thing to Tevez", while his opinion of Sanchez is that he is similar to David Silva, a player that can play both out wide or behind a striker.

Lavezzi is more a striker playing on the flanks and linking up with his front man and roaming around the box to supply Cavani, while Sanchez is an actual playmaker who tries to link with more players around him.

      Wouldn't mind both though ;)

Thanks for the info Crouchie, but I think we may have to settle for one of them..... if we are lucky.

Whether or not he's a classic winger (which I think he's perfectly capable of playing, wherever he's been operating for Udinese this season), he would be a perfect player to put on the right side of a front three.

Sanchez - Carroll - Suarez looks pretty damn good.

Only 5 or 6 clubs could afford 35M for him (if that is really his price). And I think we're one of them. So let's give it a whirl.

if you have the chance to land Sanchez then you obviously do it

but where does he fit in with Suarez and Carroll, do we put him on the right and have Suarez play behind Carroll in a SS role? I read on a report he can really only play on the right and not on the opposite side of the pitch, but I also read on here that he has played him more in a central role throughout the season

Sanchez behind Carroll, Suarez on the right and someone new on the left.

Just get him. You don't say no to world class players.

It may be a lot of money but i would buy him and then think about where we will play him - i'm sure he could play on the right in a 4-4-2, behind the forward(s) or on the right of a front 3.

One thing that is important though is that we need width and if those that watch him regularly say he isn't really much of a winger with a good end product then maybe we should look at another world class player that IS able to provide the end product?

I would definitely like to see us play 4-3-3 more often though ....

                Suarez  Carroll  Sanchez

                Meireles   Lucas   Gerrard

This would give us so many options during a game so for me - we NEED to buy this guy!

Now that we have a huge striker like Andy it's time to add to the width of our squad. Sanchez is  my first choice .He's got pace, speed, skill and an open mind for creating something out of nothing. I rate him more than Lennon. Lennon is just a winger but Sanchez is a multitask player in my eyes.

35 mil is too much. we need more than 4 quality players to ensure that we are competitive for the PL.We can't afford 35 mil on 1 player!(as for carroll we sold a player 5omil). There are other wingers whose value are 20-25mil or less(ex Hazard/Mata/Turan).

I don't mean that we do not have the money; we have it but as they(the owners) said before they are ready to spend big on players who are not over-priced. For example, if Sanchez was at 20-25, we could make a bid. I would prefer to buy Turan or Mata for 25 mil and Nuri Sahin for 12mil rather than 35 mil on Sanchez.

35 million isn't overpriced for Sanchez in my opinion, he's very much worth it.

Maybe he is worth of it but I would not put 35mil on 1 winger/miedfielder since we need at least 2 wingers and a DM/playmaker.
If we didn't lack width as we do now I wouldn't mind bidding 35mil for him.
