Flanagan has been named in the squad for our game against Sparta Prague on Thursday.

Congratulations lad! These academy lads really deserve it after their performance on Monday!

Goes about his business quietly and effectively, may be wrong but him, Coady and the the impressive Kelly all seem to be of the same mould, hard-working, determined players who wear the shirt with pride, Well done Johnno laa

So pleased for Flanno, he deserves his chance with how he's been playing.

Even if they don't get to play they at least get to taste the European experience.

Good luck if you get to play.

Flanagan has been one of the best players in an amazing youth team this year and has stepped up to the reserves aswell. He hasn't looked out of place at all. He's one of the most consistant performers for McMahon's reserve team.

Great debut for the lad so far. Has looked solid and has pinged some beautiful passes across the field.

Looks like a bright future for him ;D

He can be proud with his performance so far. Been sound defensively and allows himself to receive the ball.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him next week again.

If he can do a job against Man City then as far as I'm concerned he can do a job against anyone.

Great news for the future that.

I can see us considering cashing in on, a fairly injury prone, Johnson this summer now and using the money on a left back. Kelly and Flanagan are real options now.

Just to add, I think he looks a better player than Wilson does as well who I have not been impressed with.

Just a point on Wilson, we haven't seen him at centre back much, which is his natural position.

Amazing debut from the young lad, showed a maturity beyond his years and did not look out of place at all, said in the match thread "he's got balls of steel, he'd throw himself in the pits of hell this lad" epitomised by the way he was throwing himself into challenges to the sound of a rapturous applause from the Anfield faithful, made up for him hope he can kick on and lets not under estimate Carra's role in getting him through his debut.

outstanding debut today. Kolarov only got around him 2 or 3 times otherwise he stood up well defensively, and I really liked some of those long passes he was spraying around.

And yeah you could see Carra directing him, for sure gonna be a manager somewheres

Did well today on his first start and if I remember rightly, never played even a minute for the first team.

Well done, John, you can be very happy with your performance.

Wonderful debut by the lad! It will give him plenty of confidence and other players in the reserves and under 18's! No doubt they'll be chomping at the bit to play at senior level and seeing young John will make them work even harder. I thought he handled himself very well, composed, good passing, always in for a tackle and good positioning.

F**kin proud of Flanno today. Kuyt worked hard to provide cover but Flanagan was faultless, perfect debut.

Excellent performance, but I would say he had an easier time of it than he could have. City weren't really playing anyone on that flank, especially when Tevez went off and Balotelli came on to amble around. He's going to have tougher tests than that in his career, that's for sure.

Brilliant debut anyway, did everything he had to do very very well
