Did well today on his first start and if I remember rightly, never played even a minute for the first team.

Well done, John, you can be very happy with your performance.

Wonderful debut by the lad! It will give him plenty of confidence and other players in the reserves and under 18's! No doubt they'll be chomping at the bit to play at senior level and seeing young John will make them work even harder. I thought he handled himself very well, composed, good passing, always in for a tackle and good positioning.

f***in proud of Flanno today. Kuyt worked hard to provide cover but Flanagan was faultless, perfect debut.

Excellent performance, but I would say he had an easier time of it than he could have. City weren't really playing anyone on that flank, especially when Tevez went off and Balotelli came on to amble around. He's going to have tougher tests than that in his career, that's for sure.

Brilliant debut anyway, did everything he had to do very very well

If he can do a job against Man City then as far as I'm concerned he can do a job against anyone.

Great news for the future that.

I can see us considering cashing in on, a fairly injury prone, Johnson this summer now and using the money on a left back. Kelly and Flanagan are real options now.

Agree with this, Johnson may just find himself surplous to requirements.

Amazing debut from the young lad, showed a maturity beyond his years and did not look out of place at all, said in the match thread "he's got balls of steel, he'd throw himself in the pits of hell this lad" epitomised by the way he was throwing himself into challenges to the sound of a rapturous applause from the Anfield faithful, made up for him hope he can kick on and lets not under estimate Carra's role in getting him through his debut.

Carra was immense, you could see him controlling all the back four from the first whistle.

I expected City to try and put us under serious pressure down Flanno's side. The lad did very well. Got great support from Carra, Kuyt and Spearing. Made up for him. Thought City were bringing Silva on to try and beat him, but he showed all the discipline and desire that City lacked

Was a great debut for the lad. Proper made up for him.

Main thing was the way he looked like an old school Liverpool lad, give it to the nearest Red shirt and move back into space. Glad to see that isn't being lost on the current youngsters. Spearing was exactly the same.

Yeah my mate said the same thing.... well sort of, he said he looks like someone who'd nick your car  :f_tongueincheek:

I knew he wasn't afraid to put a challenge in but to see him do it against an EPL first team was brilliant. I bet he's absolutely buzzing now.

Incredible performance, not really tested too much but did everything right when asked and was so composed on the ball - the raking passes were amazing.

      Quote from: Adam Morgan's Twitter
Want to say a big well done to jon flanagan(flano) what a player he performed great..true scouser !!

      I don't use Twitter, seen it on lfc.tv - http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/our-3-0-in-10-top-tweets

Still, its boss to see Morgan is supporting his mate. Must give the other reserve/youth lads a big boost to see youngsters getting a go.

Well done to Flannagan and Morgan for this.

PS - Morgan has spelt Jon without the H, whereas our title has the H in it. Nothing major, just wondering which was the correct spelling?

Delighted for the lad. Deserves all the credit he's getting. In my opinion a performance like that against City deserves he reward of his spot against Arsenal! Credit to you lad, keep it up and we'll be seeing a lot more of you!

      Cracking debut full of confidence.

Props to Carra too for leading the line and being a re-assuring presence throughout.

what a debut, grew into the game. looked like he had being playing 1st team football for years by the end. gives us a problem if he keeps his place & that form. why isnt he a left back!
