It's amazing what being Scouse does for a player... flanagan is a very poor footballer.

Just seen your Albie is a good player - are you somehow related to him?

Flanno may not be fantastic going forward but neither are any of the Leicester full backs what all 3 can do is defend. Something Moreno knows less about than a 5 year old.

What does being a very poor footballer has to do with defending or attacking as a full back? He's proven to be a very good tackler and has a good understanding of defending in the full back position, so in that sense, I, along with others rate him. What I will say too, he has  that composure and awareness on the ball, something Flanno could teach to 3/5 of our midfielders.

he isn't anything special but at least he can half defend and has a brain, something which moreno has none of

I think the lad deserves at least a one year extension and gets a good run at the team again.

Not possible to give him a run of games yet mate, they're still managing his injury.

Jürgen said he still needs a couple of days off after playing and even then has to drop out of training altogether if it gets too bad.

It's not all bad though as he also said he wants him to stay although ultimately that's up to Jon himself.

A sprinkle of some red blooded Scouse magic and BAM!!! A fierce victory - that is what Liverpool is about, that is what is needed and that crunching tackle to Sterling from the whistle set the tone.

Never underestimate local talent. It's why we need to develop great Scouse talent - they will run through brick walls for this club.

Absolutely Baz, that level of passion and determination just gets the blood pumping in other players. It's hard to describe and quantify but you can just see the reaction in others, a tone setting challenge and Sterling disappeared for the rest of the match.

Brilliant display from Flanno and clearly well on the mend and deserves his place in the side easily.

      Well in Flanno lad!

Glad to see the back of Moreno to be honest, Jon did exactly what a full back should do defend first and foremost!

Played a peach of a through ball to Lallana in the second half it was Coutinho like.

A bit of steal and nastiness is what Flanno adds to our defence.

Question is should we keep playing him at right back, and move Clyne to the left permanently? I think that is a better option. We don't like crossing the ball that often anyway, and Clyne looks like a full back who tend to cut inside, while Flanno stays on the line most of the time.

There have been some supposed promising full backs come out of the academy over the years but he's ahead of the bunch without a doubt.

It's a shame that he's still in the injury recovery stage or else he'd be the starting right back with Clyne at left back IMO. He's a traditional defender who takes no sh*t and loves a good challenge. You can't help but him love, local boy or not.

Flanno was absolutely superb tonight, brilliant interception in the first half and that excellent through ball in the second half was a hell of a pass.

Anyone claiming he's average needs there F***ing heads testing.

He was fine, but it's a typical overreaction where he's concerned. Had Moreno made some of the mistakes that Flanagan made or given away some of the silly free kicks he gave away, he'd have been criticised. Even Clyne would've had critics if he had put in this sort of performance.

Definitely deserves a new contract though. I don't want to see him as first choice every week, but as a number two he's fine.

This. Thought he was alright. He stepped in on multiple occasions and got beat and a few times when someone used pace against him he got beat as well.

Had it been anyone other than Flanno and that person would have been criticized, but he isn't a bad player. And he was out for like a year and a half or so. I give him credit but certainly was not his best performance imo.

How about that interception in the first half, Moreno would of still be chugging back to make an inteception like that.

Whether you like or not we looked more solid at the back with Flanno and Clyne playing.

Once fully fit, will be back to being a full first teamer.

I agree Flanno always gets a strong reaction - sometimes positive sometimes negative.

Last night he had a great game, I know people are saying 'if Moreno did that' and alluding to 'its because he is a scouser' but fair is fair and he had a solid game.

The fairest way to judge is the way he controlled Sterling who in the first half had one chance that was totally cut out by Flanno. On Sunday Sterling had a fair few chances - so defensively Flanno looks a lot better. The first tackle he made tonight set a tone and that is what we want as fans and gets the Kop going.

Going forward Moreno offers a lot more, so much more I would almost play him as a winger. To be a modern wingback you need this, so Flanno has work to do.
