Brendan Rodgers certainly is a fan even though he couldn't help but send him out on loan leaving Clyne with no cover at RB.  Rodgers' personnel decisions can be real head scratchers sometimes

Maybe he thought Andre wasn't good enough for the Premier League [just like those at W.B.A. & Norwich] but he is plenty good enough for Scottish football?  :confused-smiley-013:

Hardly baffling - just like it's hardly baffling that, yet another, academy 'kid' doesn't make it as (irrespective of the romance of it all) very, very, few do.  From a footballing perspective that is a pity.

The £3m will help pay for the next batch tho'... and that's good; right?  :-\

One of those players that showed great promise early in his career. I know he ended up as a full back here, but he has the physique of a centre back and i'm surprised he never got a gane there for us, West Brom or Norwich.

Pretty sure that is how he started off life in our youth teams.

Not even Derby gave him a go at centre-half. Maybe the lad just hasn't developed the ability to read the game yet so that's why teams haven't trusted him in the middle  (This is all conjecture on my part I'm not stating this as a fact). I mean I was watching the Portugal v Iceland match last night and Carvalho (at 38) put in a great performance and maybe sometimes you can have all the pace and strength in the world (which André has) but the most important thing is what you have between the ears. Maybe André just hasn't developed enough of it yet to be playing at CB in the Premier League.

I think its obvious that his lack of ops at CB is due to his height.

Now sure how or where the 'lack of a brain' assumption has come from?

We rejected an offer from Derby of around 2M. I will take 5M upwards. Well done Andre for the winning the league :)

Penny pinching fookers should let him go and have a career. Loaning him out for 3 seasons shows hes not in plans. This isnt holding out for 20 million on a 10 million offer its a million quid F**k sake

Liverpool agree £4.5m Andre Wisdom sale to Derby

Andre Wisdom is set to complete a move from Liverpool to Derby which could be worth up to £4.5m.

The defender has spent the past four seasons out on loan and is set to seal a permanent move to Pride Park Stadium.

The ECHO understands the deal is worth more than £2m initially with the extra payments due when achievable targets are reached. It resembles a similar contract which Liverpool put in place when Tiago Ilori moved to Reading.

Derby had made an official approach last week, offering £1m, an offer that was rejected.

Wisdom's most recent stint was at Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg, where he won the league and cup double.

The 24-year-old former England U21 international had no long-term future with the Reds but there was considerable interest in him from other clubs including Birmingham and Celtic.

Wasn't he only loaned out last season because nobody wanted to actually sign him?

Either way, think we have done well to get 4.5mill for him.

So we should sign every player for what the selling club asks for and sell players for what everybody else wants to buy them for then?

I think it's interesting. If we just bought a new 24 year old CB from a double winning RB Salzberg, everyone would think we were adding depth to our squad. Now we're selling this guy. Seems like a waste.

But he sat on the Salzburg bench for most of the season didn't he?
