Hopefully get to see Lucas playing as an attacking midfielder, feeling confident, 3 0 Liverpool.

Lucas, Spearing, Poulson doesn't excite me to much but we will still win.

But he seems to be one of our best performers in the reserves. Him and Suso should be blooded imo if not we will never know if they are good enough and of course playing in matches like this would give dani and suso the confidence and incentive to work even harder because as we all know pacheco is too good for the reserves but hardly even gets a chance for the 1st team. He must be dejected to see other players whom he outshone in the european championships getting into 1st teams for their clubs while he is languishing in the reserves or warming the bench.
I think that if he"s given a 15-20 minutes of play he will really have to play his heart out and prove once and for all his worth.

May be Spearing in left-back and Johnson at right wing.

Indeed, and yet you want us to sell Gerrard?  :f_whistle:

Its a solid back four and solid midfield and its an away leg in a European game the name of the game is to come back to Anfield still in the game. What is it in Kenny we trust as long as we win?.There is plenty in that team to get a result.

Doubt it, Wilson would play left back if that was the case. I'm not sure on the formation.

Not entirely confident with that lineup but I think it's a massively important game for Spearing and Cole particularly, both of whom could lose out when we get new arrivals in the summer.

Not sure about the formation either, possibly the 4-1-2-1-2 diamond posted above. If Hodgson was still in charge then I'd guess at a standard 4-4-2 with Cole in behind the striker and Meireles out on the right, but I don't see why Kenny would choose that team, especially with Meireles in such good form now he's finally being played in the right position.

Perhaps a sort of 4-4-3 with Cole and Meireles playing in and around Kuyt with the midfield three of Spearing, Poulsen and Lucas.

4-4-3 would be massive but we'd have Pepe in the midfield?

Don't you remember when he played midfield in a pre season game!?? Would probably play better than Poulsen anyway :D.

Thanks for pointing out my mistake :P

Yep. Bore the opposition to frustration in the away game. Rip them to shreds at Anfield.

I'm not surprised by the line up. But I think it's going to be interesting to see how much of an effect Cole, Kuyt and Meireles have on the attack.

Did a bit of a celebratory dance when I read N'Gog was not in the first eleven.

Hope Spearing does well. Good luck mate!

I think it is the strongest team availiable to play, aside from Carroll being on the bench. Yet that is perfectly understandable.

      A very solid side.

      2-1 win.

Looks like a 4-3-2-1 with either Lucas or Spearing more attacking.

I hope that midfield does not bore me into suicide, best start removing sharp objects from around the house.

Exactly still got three players capable of scoring you play with the cards you are dealt and that looks good if you dont have Kelly Gerrard Suarez and Carrol ready and able.Still think we can win this.

I don't mind the selection. Sensible decision. As long as we don't lose, that's always a good result in Europe away from home. Just annoying i'll have to stay awake and watch what will probably be a grudge match.

It's the classic Liverpool european away game system. Without the suicide bit.
