Never confused him at all, both him and Poulsen and Carra and Skrtel were guilty of playing a handfull of misplaced passes in our own half in the first half.

Very disappointing performance and result. It is a poor thing that we had to rely on Carroll coming on after a long injury lay off to give us any attacking threat.

I know the key is to keep it tight in the away leg in Europe but I don't think they played particularly well and if we could have got some decent passing going forwards we should have caused them problems.

The midfield tonight was absolutely shocking and I include every one of them in that. I don't think I've seen such a poor display in midfield for quite a while. Spearing is not a wide player, Lucas and Poulsen constantly gave the ball away and as someone said earlier Cole just runs around but actually did very little. One of Raul's worst games in a while as well.

Kuyt up front again was poor on his own and only when Carroll came on did we have any sort of focus in attack. Kuyt just cannot play up front on his own without proper support in my opinion and no offered any support for him for about an hour of the game.

One stupid mistake at the back cost us the goal and Sotis really didn't need to dive in for that challenge.

Very poor display to say the least and we will need to play a lot better next week if we want to progress.

think back to the first twenty minutes or so ,the passing was good but it was the ferocity and speed of braga that unsettled our lads ,we no sooner had the ball and they were in on us,we were just slow to the ball ,then the passing started getting sloppy.

Can't play with 2 wingers anymore unless they can also defend.

LB is a no brainer, CM needs depth, but I also think we need a CB - Carra is getting near his end, sotis is a bit old.

Cover for a season or 2 til our youth comes through - wilson and kelly for the future, along with agger, which would leave us needing a RB as well.
