Rennes goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez is being tracked by Liverpool.

L'Equipe says Liverpool sent scouts to check on Douchez in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Brest in Ligue 1.

Douchez's contract runs out this summer and the 30-year-old could join any interested party on a free transfer.

The Reds are already snapping up Douchez's team-mate Sylvain Marveaux when his deal runs out and Douchez could well be next on the Anfield side's list.

Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier made an attempt to snap up Douchez last month and is also maintaining interest.

EDIT: (my thoughts) Let's not forget Yann M'Vila plays for Rennes too, so perhaps that was a reason for this scouting trip. He's been rumored for us.

Add Fanni at Right Back and Kaka as an attacker and we're all square.

What about adding Sven and Lars Bender from Dortmund into the mix?

Kaiserslautern have the monopoly on funny names though: Martin Amedick, Florian Dick, Alexander Bugera, Anel Dzaka and Danny Fuchs.

Douchez signs for PSG

Goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez signed a three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain on Friday.

A product of the Le Havre academy, Nicolas Douchez made his professional debut at Chateauroux in the 2003-04 season. After an accomplished first season (26 Ligue 2 matches), the Rosny-sous-Bois native signed for Toulouse in the top flight. After a first season as number two behind the former Parisian Christophe Revault, he won his place in the side and was a regular fixture of the next three seasons (86 Ligue 1 matches).

In 2008 the shot-stopper signed for Rennes and took another step up in class. He played 111 matches in Ligue 1 and played in the 2009 Coupe de France final, lost 2-1 against Guingamp and was regularly shortlisted for the France squad. Out of contract, he signed for PSG where he hopes to continue his progression.
