Promising winger Diego Perotti has attracted the interest of Premier League side Liverpool with his good performances for Sevilla in the 2010-11 campaign, The People reports.


The Reds are desperate to add a new left winger to their squad in the summer transfer window and they have previously been linked with players such as Ashley Young of Aston Villa, Stade Rennais' Sylvain Marveaux and PSV's Balazs Dzsudzsak.

Nevertheless, they are now also believed to be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old Perotti.

Perotti started his professional career with Deportivo Moron and joined his current club in the summer of 2007. He has developed into an important first team member at Sevilla in the past two seasons after a difficult start to life in Spain.

The Argentina international's current contract with Sevilla runs until the summer of 2015, but an offer in the region of €10 million could be enough to lure him away from the Nervionenses.

The versatile winger currently sits 717th in the Castrol Rankings.

Liverpool and Everton are gearing up for a Merseyside transfer tussle over Sevilla's flying winger Diego Perotti this summer.

Newcastle are also understood to be considering a bid, but reports in Spain have claimed that scouts from Liverpool and Everton have been highly impressed by the Argentine midfielder's performances this season.

Perotti, 22, is under contract until 2015 but Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has revealed that the club may be willing to do business for the right price.

It is thought the La Liga side want at least £16m for their star, who has scored three times in his 22 starts so far this season.

The Argentine winger has been linked with a host of clubs in England, and reports suggest that a decision has been made that will see the 22-year-old depart.

Sevilla are ready to ask €16million for their midfield creator, who looks to have a plethora of options available to him in the Premier League.

Liverpool, Everton and Newcastle have all been strongly linked with Perotti in recent weeks.

Sevilla are looking at midfield options, but they have already confirmed a deal for Hamburg's Germany international Piotr Trochowski.

Trochowski is due to move to Sevilla on a Bosman transfer, his agent confirmed earlier this month

Juventus to rival Liverpool for Sevilla ace

Liverpool will face stiff opposition from Italian giants Juventus for Diego Perotti.

The midfielder was said to have been the subject of a £7m bid from the Anfield club, but current club Sevilla are holding out for at least £8.5m.

But now Juve have entered the equation, and reportedly made contact with the La Liga side, a bidding war could start over the 22-year-old.

The winger has recently pledged his future to Sevilla, who he joined in 2007, but they could be tempted to sell if their valuation is met.

Liverpool are already believed to be in negotiations with Juve over Alberto Aquilani, who has spent the season on loan at the Olimpico do Torino, which could give them a position of power when negotiating for Perotti.

Are Juventus just going after everybody? They're not willing to pay the full price for Aquilani who is reported to have been one of their best players this season but they can chase after practically everybody in Europe, they're the Italian Spurs.

I think the only reason why Juventus weren't willing to pay Aquilani's price is because they signed Pirlo on a free instead. And that comparison is much too flattering to Spurs. In terms of history and club stature Juventus are far more similar to us than to Spurs, they've won the Serie A more than any other Italian club.

Liverpool have reportedly turned their attentions to Sevilla winger Diego Perotti after missing out on Ashley Young.

Boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to bring in at least one winger during the summer to provide the ammunition for his new look strike force of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez and Young was believed to be his top target.

However, the 25-year-old will reportedly only leave Villa for Manchester United and Dalglish has now turned his attentions to Perotti, who at 22 is three years younger than Young.

The Argentine winger, who has been capped once by his country, is reportedly valued at £7million by Sevilla and some reports claim Liverpool have already launched a bid, but they face competition from Italian giants Juventus.

I like him. He seems to be a winger that has the raw attributes to be a world beater, pace, power, skill, decent cross, two footed and he seems a very direct winger. He's still only 22 and is available for around 12 million (I think). Seems like a no brainer IMO.

If you've watched him play, you can't deny he has the talent but he hasn't been that consistent. I believe under Dalglish he would get the best from him constantly.  He plays on the left but I've seen him on right a few times when Navas (the best right winger in the world IMO) has not played and he's been brilliant on the right. Hugs the touchline very well but also he gets involved in the play too. Very good passer compared to some other players who've been linked with who haven't got the same passing ability. Very direct, very quick, decent cross, can beat a man and offers width. We need a player like him for years.

Yep, real shame. Amazing player and probably the best right winger in the world (don't count Messi, Ronaldo, Robben because their more forwards then wingers). Can't think of any that are better.

He went to the world cup with Spain but I don't see him ever leaving Sevilla.

Hmm, looks like a diamond in the rough. I'm sure Kenny would do wonders with him.
Also, he's not exactly on best terms with Guti, that's a massive positive.
Almost every player looks good in youtube videos though (apart from Diouf, because no-one would make a video about that c**t).

There's no downside to Marveaux joining, he has the potential to pleasantly surprise us and I think he'll do just that.

I won't slate Marveaux if he does sign unless he proves to be another player on a free stopping the development of a young player.

If he manages to avoid frequent injuries he'll do a fine job as a cover or an occasional starter.

Yeah, there were, but those two players were about 30 years old, in pretty bad shape for the last few seasons and on massive wages. On the other hand, Marveaux is still only 25, a decent talent, and has been an ever present for Rennes apart from this season. There are downsides, but just little ones that can be overlooked, because this signing has a big big chance to come out good.

Not just apart from this season mate. In the past 3 seasons he's been injured almost 2 whole seasons, his 2008/2009 season was worse than this one, and he's still recovering from an injury as we speak. Can't really say he's in good shape, or not injury prone. And Marveaux will very likely have high wages too, similar to Jova's anyway, and probably a fairly long contract too. Personally I was hoping the days of signing risk players were left behind us when H&G fu**ed off.

I like the look of this guy. Very similar to Young though ( left winger, right footed ). Would,nt mind him for the right wing. Young can also play right wing so there maybe something to think about with Perotti. Hes young, he undoubtedly has skill and we could pick him up for around 10 mill......sweet.

Young doesn't seem to play well when playing on the right hand side though, he seems to like drifting in side onto his right foot to have a shot every now and then - a bit like Adam Johnson being left footed and being on the right hand side of midfield. I'm not going to start talking about Young because it isn't the relevant thread but regarding Perotti, he seems a decent talent, would definitely be worth a punt at £10m.
