We need a playmaker

Can anyone think of a world class midfield player maker? I have been thinking about who we can get who is a potential world class player, can anyone think of any?
So far i can only think of a couple who are impossible, De Rossi, Xabi, potentially Ganzo (if he can be converted to a central midfielder), (Schweinsteiger).

I wouldn't exactly say we need a play maker, but what we do need is a central midfielder who reads the game very well, is not shy of sticking a foot in and tracking back, that posseses a good range of passing and has the vision to match his range of passing and has game intelligence so he knows when to go forwards and when to hold his position.

I'm sorry if i wasnt clear, but the player you are describing, is a central playmaker imo.

Milan Badelj - will be Croatia's next big export, should move for him now while he's still at Dinamo Zagreb before a big team comes and gets him, he's currently 22 and operates in the "Alonso role" in the 4-2-3-1 national team setup or as a normal CM in a 4-4-2 setup (Dinamo) although sometimes they play a 4-3-3 usually when chasing a game (where he will play on either side of the more defensively minded CM). Will be bigger and better than Modric IMO, a bid in the region of £12m would probably secure him.

Other names who are probably realistic are Javi Martinez, Ricardo Montolivo, Ever Banega, Blaise Matuidi, Kim Kallstrom.

..Aquilani?

Martinez - great passer, up there with Alonso's but has very little pace. We could bring him here but it might cost a lot of money but it'll be worth it in the long run.

Benega - very good passer, decent tackle and fairly mobile, available be available for cheaper then normal and he's a realistic option.

Alonso - just a brilliant playmaker, no chance of getting him sadly

Modric - my choice if I wanted one. Doubt he'd move here unless we beat Spurs to 5th, even then other teams with champions league football are interested.

Suso - in a few years time

Sahin - he feels like he'll be as good as Alonso, fantastic player although he won't move to us this summer, has fantastic left foot

This is where I hoped Meireles could fill the role. Sadly he hasn't, he's good at making forwards runs and getting a goal or two but he doesn't control games like Gerrard and Aquliani. Also he never gets his foot stuck in.

Havent you heard?, he was sh*te and deserved to be sent on loan, Poulsen is a much better player, he can run around around the central midfield and shirk out of tackles more convincingly than Aquilani.

I can't think of many playmakers but the only ones that come to mind is Fabregas, Alonso and Xavi and it's impossible to get any of them.

With Carroll in the team, we are more in need of wingers, we have players that can fill the playmaker role any way, Gerrard, Miereles and possibly even Aquilani, if he returns.

Those of you say meireles makes me think, you haven't seen him play in that role for us, he's sh*t at it. Aquilani is still VERY injury prone, always has been.

Depends if you mean a deep lying playmaker or a more advanced one, Miereles is more than capable of playing an advanced playmaker role, but you never specified what kind of playmaker.

Gerrard hasnt put in a consistent string of games since Alonso left, and Miereles is not a play-maker whether its advance or DL, hes not as creative as your making him out to be
