Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
      Mar 28, 2011 01:27:19 pm
Great news for all you COD fanatics :)

I think it's going to be a prequel to Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare with Ghost as the lead.

The game is to be developed by Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games (Single Player) and Raven Software (Multiplayer) and published by Activision.

Game is set to be released in November this year, I think. There's nothing much about it around but at least we can confirm that there is a Call of Duty 8. There was a delay last year due to the Infinity Ward - Activision dispute but they are now working on the game.

As for me, not sure what to expect of it because COD4 and COD6 have set the standards high but I'll definitely get this to add to my collection.

Minus all the developers who left the company.

Needs to be something special. CoD4 revolutionised the genre, the single player and mutliplayer modes were both stunning. CoD6 just felt like a continuation. There was nothing wrong with it but it was just more of the same and personally, I think Bad Company 2 took over as the best multiplayer FPS.

Yeah, I think one problem with COD6 was that many argued it's epic story was too short. I loved the online gameplay, though and that's also because I never played COD4 but now I have bought as for collection ;D

Like a dickhead, I sold it when Medal of Honor came out. Then I read so many bad reviews from people who'd played MoH that I left it in it's wrapper and posted it back to Play.com. I might have to hunt down a second hand copy of Bad Company 2. Single player is a CoD rip-off but done in a way where they actually acknowledge it and take the piss out of it. The multiplayer is excellent, I became a very lethal sniper before (idiotically) selling it.

Yeah I borrowed it off a friend and was amazed at how quickly I got through it, these things usually take me a while.

Modern Warfare 3 Announcement Coming Soon

A Modern Warfare 3 annoucement is coming soon.  It has recently been hinted that the rumored sequel to 2009's blockbuster shooter, Modern Warfare 2, might be getting a sequel and we'll learn all about it this month.  U.K.'s PSM3 Magazine alluded to industry insiders giving them the heads up saying that " Activision's megaton FPS series will be announced in mid-April."  More importantly, the magazine speculates that the next game will pick up right where Modern Warfare 2 left off.  Considering how Modern Warfare 2 left off, we think they might be right.

Many have speculated what the next Call of Duty game will bring.  From a new adventure based around the life and times of Ghost, to a far-future affair, it looks like we'll be hearing more very soon from Activision about this new game being developed by Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software, and of course what's left of Infinity Ward.

The timing feels about right here.  Last year at this time, we got our first information about the latest Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Black Ops.

So it's not a direct prequel to Modern Warfare (COD 4) but it's a sequel to Modern Warfare 2 but somehow related to Ghost.

Anyways, an announcement will probably be made in a couple of weeks or so and I read somewhere that the first gameplay for Modern Warfare 3 will also be out sometime this month.

Like Inert said, lots of changes at Infinity Ward, so wonder how that will impact quality of the final product.

I don't know about anyone else but would love them to introduce 3D in to these games.  I couldn't think of a better product that would have people going out and buying the new 3D sets.

Lots of changes yeh, but they still own all rights to the game engine etc etc, if anything it could go either way in the game mode with better or worse story lines, but I imagine the online experience won't change much at all.

Alot is expected from it, though, considering how Battlefied 3's early gameplay have panned out.

Regardless, I'm definitely buying MW3 because I am trying to collect most of the games bar Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War.

More excited about the new Battlefield myself. As Repro said, Bad Company rocks. I only have the first one but that multiplayer still beats COD for me.

Will see when reviews come out on it, but won't be lining up at midnight for it anyways!

I agree mate, Battlefield 3 is going to blow everything else out of the water and then swoop around victoriously in a fighter jet. Looks awesome, genuine innovation and improvement, compared to the Call of Duty franchise's repeated games. Same engine, same graphics, same multiplayer, same F***ing game every year. The franchise hasn't evolved in four years, and yet they're still raking in the money.

No more from me! Didn't buy Black Ops, and I won't be buying MW3. Anyway, as Inert said it's hardly 'Infinity Ward' working on the game when nearly all the developers have left!

Seems a news about it will be out in the next week or so (yeah, that's also what I said back in early April). The person who does the voice of Ghost kinda slipped out mentioning about it I think.

      Quote
Asked on talkSPORT this weekend about his Call of Duty work, Craig Fairbrass - who provided his voice for both Modern Warfare games - said he's "just been out in LA doing something that's going to be announced in May."

He said: "I did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as Gaz and then I did Ghost in Modern Warfare 2, which has become one of the most iconic figures in the history of computer games, which is great.

"And I've just been out in LA doing something that's going to be announced in May... I've just been out there doing some bits and pieces and one of it's to do with... I can't say too much."

Rumour has it that the next Call of Duty is titled Modern Warfare 3 with "Project Collosus" as a subtitle.

This '3' in MW style font also appeared in Playstation Magazine UK.

As we know, Battlefield 3 also set to come out but "The Biggest Game In The World Returns", I think of the next COD - MW3 and not Battlefield 3.

Leaked release date? 8th November 2011. Around the same time as Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and Black Ops (2010).

Yeah that info's going to be on MW3. It's in the green and everything + Battlefield 3 has already been announced.

That release date will be almost exact, and it'll be the same next year. And the next. And the one after that.

Call of Duty's Beachhead Platform Will Be "Integral" To Next Game
Written Tuesday, May 10, 2011 by Richard Walker

Last night's Activision investors call revealed that the publisher's Beachhead initiative will play an integral role in the next Call of Duty title, introducing a whole suite of online services and content that will apparently expand the game's online play.

Beachhead is a new internal Call of Duty studio devoted entirely to developing a new online platform for Activision's most lucrative console IP. "This platform will include a suite of services and content plan that will unite and ignite the community like never before, declared Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg during last night's call. "The platform will support in-game integration and bring online experiences and console play together for the first time."

The Beachhead platform has "been in development for almost two years and we're very excited about the increased value and excitement we can bring to our community through this platform," Hirshberg added. Certain elements of the initiative will be monetised, but services that are currently offered for free will not have any charges incurred. Both Bobby Kotick and Hirshberg also affirmed that Beachhead won't replace existing online services.
Activision confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops was now the "best-selling game of all time" during the call too, which is why the next Call of Duty game will benefit from "the largest integrated marketing and retail campaign we have every invested," said Hirshberg. It's rumoured that the next Call of Duty title is currently codenamed CoD: Project Colossus and will release on November 8th, 2011.

First Modern Warfare 3 Details Rappel In
Written Friday, May 13, 2011 by Richard Walker

Kotaku has managed to get its sticky fingers on the very first tangible details for Modern Warfare 3, with the story, locations, game modes and release date all finally locked down and revealed. So, strap yourself in... There's a lot to get through.

First of all, the game will feature gigantic battles that will unfold across major cities like New York, Paris and London, with multiple sources claiming that Modern Warfare 3 will reshape the landscape of the Call of Duty franchise, with an eclectic range of settings as well as deep multiplayer and a narrative that reportedly ties up all of the loose ends in the series, kicking off directly after the events of Modern Warfare 2.

You'll start the game fighting off a Russian attack, before globe-trotting between destinations as an SAS Operative, Russian Federal Protective Services agent, a US Armoured Division tank gunner and an AC-130 operator once again, alongside key characters or recurring faces from past CoD games. There'll be 15 missions in all, starting with the Russian invasion of Manhattan before ending with a grand finale in Dubai.

Two new characters reportedly set to debut in Modern Warfare 3 are members of Delta Force, codenamed 'Frost' and 'Sandman'. Multiplayer will also be predictably huge, with a reported 20 maps on the disc, spread across the same single-player locations of New York, London, Paris and Mogadishu. Spec Ops will also return with two distinct modes called 'Survival' and 'Mission', which is pretty self-explanatory.

Furthermore, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software are collaborating on various aspects of Modern Warfare 3 as speculated in previous reports. There's plenty more over on Kotaku, including a slew of spoilers that we won't post here, because, well, they're spoilers, and we don't do spoilers. However, bear in mind that none of this information has been officially confirmed by Activision as yet, although it does look remarkably authentic. Take it with a wee pinch of salt, as always...

Modern Warfare 3 is apparently coming on November 8th, 2011. Gird your loins, people!

Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Features Battles in Brooklyn, Clash in Mogadishu

Brian Crecente — Packed with 15 levels set in locations around the world, from Manhattan to the catacombs of Paris, Modern Warfare 3's near-future campaign looks to be an experience that will top anything seen before in a Call of Duty game.

Multiplayer, too, seems to be shaping up to be an experience packed with new maps, experiences and ways to game.

Sources tell Kotaku that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have as many as 20 multiplayer maps, though it's unclear if some will be cut before release or perhaps sold later as expansion packs. The game will also include a powerful mix of mission-based and survival Special Ops modes. While the mission-based levels will be designed like the ones made popular in Modern Warfare 2, we're told, the survival maps will have players fighting until they're overcome by increasingly difficult waves of enemies.

While we haven't seen the game in action ourselves, we believe that the imagery is accurate. That doesn't mean things can't change before release.

We've contacted Activision for comment and will update the story when and if they provide reaction.

      :lmao:

Was thinking the Modern Warfare tag would branch off from COD and follow the developers who left but it mustn't be the case. Whatever project they hit next will be the next big thing, for sure.

Looking forward to this though, couldn't stand Black Ops. It just isn't the same as MW. Got ages to sort some broadband out for this. ;)
