And to be fair to him, he always does say it is not fair on him when they ask him about Liverpool, he always says that Kenny is the manager now and does not want to be disrespectful to him by talking about him.

It's true.  There is obviously media mileage in stuff like this, so they will continue to ask.

Personally, I thought it was a bad move on GH's part to try to claim credit, as by 2004 we were a one dimensional counter-attacking side (even at home).  He did it again at the start of this season.  Totally with Rafa on this.

Incidentally, does anyone know if the rumours are true that Houllier was considered for the managers job after Rafa left?

I will back Rafa up on this. Houllier did great things at Liverpool, - Christ he won more major trophies in one season than Rafa did in his whole tenure and for that I will always be thankful to him.

The champions league wasn't one of them however.

I have always thought that Houlierre is overated! He won a few trophies but we played boring football and never made any title challenge under him yet he always and still does seem to be regarded as one of the best! He is certainly proving me right with what he is doing at Villa!!

2001 treble - FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup. Also won the 2001 Community Shield, European Super Cup and another League Cup in 2003.

I appreciate what Gerard has done for us by bringing them trophies above to Anfield, nurturing players like Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and so on but it was two of Rafa's signing - Xabi Alonso and Luis Garcia that played a huge role in the 2005 triumph and it was Rafa who chose the tactics.

2005 Champions League, European Super Cup and 2006 FA Cup and Community Shield.

Rafa may have won little in comparison to Gerard but he did make us a huge force in Europe and had us playing one of the best football I've seen in the season we finished runner's up.
