3D TV - Anybody Invested Yet?
      Mar 31, 2011 11:49:21 am
Obviously after seeing the quality of 3D in the cinema, and of course, the pub im tempted to get one.

I get my new place next week and the price of a decent 42" LED 3D is around the £1000 mark with a few pairs of glasses.

Has anyone got one at home with Sky 3D?

Nowhere near as good as the cinema. Watched it in the Shop on a display model and it's a novelty. Layers of 2D images. Good for awhile until you cop it. Then it's laughable

Theres a few vids on youtube (will get the links on my dinner) of 3D without glasses.  the TV's look brilliant but will surely be top dollar.

They are a stepping stone to Hologram i reckon

Not tempted to get one untill the glasses are gone and the technolgy has developed a bit further and good quality 3D is affordable.

Went the pub to watch the footie last week.

The whole Sky Sports Logo and the score and time completely ruins the whole effect.  Footie, to be fair, isn't the ideal sport for it - certainly not in the traditional view.  When they do close ups or different angles it's better.

I am considering getting one - but probably only when there are some good PS3 games for it.  I don't think the TV programmes at the minute justifies the cost.  If Call of Duty 3D or something came out - then maybe I'd get some use out of it.

Also, you have to get at least a 42" tele for it to be decent apparently, as it's not as good with any smaller tele.

So my money is still firmly in my pocket.  I'm open to be swayed though.

If it needs a big screen that Nintendo 3DS must be all hype no substance

Probably different when you watch the screen from that close racer.

The main thing that I don't like about the 3D thing is the price of glasses. What if you have 5 or 6 mates over. Suddenly a drunken night becomes expensive on an initial purchase level and a replacement basis

Very true, £60 quid for a pair.

      Shocking.

HD is fine for me. Beautiful picture quality and more and more programmes are getting broadcast in HD so I'm sticking with that.

If I want 3D footie, I'll go to the game.

Only just got a new TV after Christmas and to be honest I'm happy with HD right now and don't see there is enough programmes or films in 3D yet to make me change my mind.

'On a holo-TV, images will be projected into the middle of a room as a "cloud" that can be viewed from every angle without 3D glasses, and manufacturers hope they could go on sale in 2012'.

If that's true I'd enjoy HD till then.
