Really hope Meireles isn't on the left. He hasn't had 1 good game where played on the wing.

Got to agree with this, Meireles is wasted on the wing.  And not just that but the team suffers because of this.  It seems Spearing is used to gain a better balance in midfield but I just don't see it, and I don't rate Spearing highly enough to warrant Meireles being pushed out on the wing.

Anyways, good luck to Flanagan and come on you red men!!

If you've ever watched Luis Suarez play for us then you will know he does not play as a 'rigid 4-4-2'.

If Lucas has the kind of game he's produced against United and Chelsea and he's supported well by Spearing we'll smash these I think.

      Was thinking that about Lucas.

He's pulled off big games against tough midfields before, and if he finds that kind of form then it could be decisive.

I don't know if we realistically have any chance of still qualifying for Europe, but if the players need any kind of motivation tonight (and they shouldn't), then revenge for the F***ing hammering we got last time should be enough.

We can all take defeats, it's part of the game, but the lack of fight and the way we rolled over was unacceptable to all LFC fans.

I want a strong performance tonight, and a will to win.

      Come on Reds!

4-3-3 on the ball, 4-4-1-1 off it.

In a way pleased we are playing 4-4-2.

In a way nervous for John Flanagan.

      Come on you red men.
If I was playing my first game at Right back i would be very pleased to see Dirk in front of me.

come on lads, a good quick start will do wonders. It will be interesting to see who picks up Tevez. Will it be a CB or will a midfielder drop deep and pick him up.

If we can get some proper graft in midfield and get stuck in, we can overpower them. They are a team of individuals rather than a team. Let's show these fuckers that a team can overpower any collection of 'stars' by using work-rate and teamwork.

Not really JD 4-4-2 is not employed by any successful team in Europe, it is way to rigid for modern football. If we play a rigid 4-4-2 tonight we will get over run in midfield and battered. If City play with there usual three in midfield we will be outnumbered in there

Could argue Bayern play a 4-4-2, although they do use a very interesting combination of personnel to achieve it.  On topic though, congratulations señor Flanagan - knock 'em dead lad.

Neither Spurs or Utd play a rigid 4-4-2, Utd have a holder in midfield and usually have 1 up top. I think playing 2 against 3 in midfield will be a massive problem tonight if that is how we are set up

Spurs occasionally switch to it when they're down and intend on playing a more direct game but in doing so take their best players out of the game.  United do play a rigid 4-4-2 a fair chunk of the time, but it's not like tactically they're a very good side to learn from.

Let's have a good, solid opening with plenty of possession to calm ourselves.

Looking forwards to seeing Flanagan in action, bit of a baptism of fire but our academy is the best in the country bar none so i'm more than 100% certain he'll handle it well.

      COME ON YOU REDMEN!!!!

I must confess looking at the two lineups I'm about as unhopeful as I've been for a home game in a long time. Given the team we've got out and our situation, City really ought to be on the hunt for all three points.

I'd take a point as of now all day long.

One thing to say, and this is why I love our manager.

      Kenny has Cojones!

      Please be:
                   Pepe
      Flanagan Carra Skrtel Aurelio
              Lucas   Spearing
                    Raul
      Kuyt        Carroll       Luis

We're at home we should be pressing them. Only way we'll get a result.

Don't have a good feeling about this game and I don't like thinking it.

My hearts telling me were going to put in a performance and get the 3 points but my heads telling me were going to get arse raped in midfield and humiliated on our own turf.

      Hope my head is wrong.

Midfield is definitely the weak link but they've risen to the occasion on big nights before now when seemingly being outmatched. I think they'll get stuck in and not let themselves be bossed about, Spearing will piss Yaya Toure off so much with his constant hassling and running he'll be like a jack russell that just won't F**k off :D
