They don't have an independent source though, they are just mentioning France Football's article.  However, that they have printed it does add weight to FF as a genuine source.

Aly Cissokho has moved a step closer to joining Liverpool after Manchester City pulled out of the race to sign the Lyon left-back.


The Citizens tied up the deal for Arsenal's Gael Clichy earlier this week and the former Gunners' move to Eastlands means Roberto Mancini has now dropped his interest in Cissokho.

A fee of around £10million is likely to be enough to prize the French international away from the Stade Gerland.

Cissokho said in April: "Lyon is a city and a club that I love. I'm happy in France but if I ever had to change clubs I would go to the Premier League because they practice a style of football similar to how I play on the field."

At the risk of getting my hopes up (Lets face it Downing is more likely) if we pulled of both these signings I'd be happy with the rest of our business this summer to be youth player recruitment.

I don't understand this either, its like Lyon are trying to sell him for a cut price for some reason or another, I would gladly take him for £10m, I just hope its true.
