      Chung-Yong Lee (Bolton)
      Apr 26, 2011 09:54:17 am
      Liverpool line up £10m bid
Bolton's Chung-Yong Lee has re-emerged as a target for Liverpool.

The South Korea international has been on Liverpool's radar since he arrived at the Reebok Stadium in the summer of 2009 and the Reds enquired about his availability at the end of last season. On that occasion they were politely rebuffed by Owen Coyle but are more hopeful that a deal can be struck this time round.

Lee has shone since moving to the Premier League showing excellent technique and an eye for goal. He has been a first choice selection in his two seasons in Lancashire where he has played either in the centre of midfield or on the right flank, regularly joining the attack.

His ability has impressed Liverpool though his nationality is also an attractive proposition. The phenomenal interest in English Football in Lee's native Korea means the financial benefits of having him on the club's books would be enormous while it would also please club sponsors Standard Chartered who have strong business links to that corner of Asia.

Lee is valued at around £6m but Liverpool can expect to opay up to £10m to guarantee his signature.

My first impression is that this is a story made up because of Standard Chartered's quotes a while back about Asian players.

      Might be wrong though.

      Freaking good player, IMO.

Only 23 years old this year. His movements are great, IMO and is tricky player. Did a little too many backheels against Arsenal, though.

Was linked when Rafa was here. I think he is a good player but not really what we need.

He is a really good player IMO, put him around better players and I think he will shine even more.

Wouldn't say no, but not for anything above £10 million.

I like him, I like him a lot. Another thing, and this may be stupid to say, but I find a lot of Asian players work their asses of for their team and never give up. This is quite recognisable in his play. I would love to sign him.

I like him as a player, but I'd like to consider him as a second tier winger.  I think we need a marquee winger (Hazard/Sanchez/Mata/Marin/Young) as well as a second tier winger (Lee/Payet/Marveaux/Downing/Jarvis/Nzogbia).  One from each category along with a LB and a CB and we look solid!

      I think so too.

I think it's because we Asians know we lack in terms of height, physical built and maybe pace so we're willing to work hard to stay in the first eleven especially since not many get the chance to play in the Premier League. That's why I think Park Ji-Sing works his arse off at Old Trafford because he's playing for a big team.

Moving to Liverpool could improve Lee Chung-Yong alot, IMO.

Is he really an out and out winger or a mix of a midfielder turned into a winger? I always viewed him as a guy that cuts in to the middle whenever he is going down the wing.

Would never have him for anything other than an option off the bench.

Not a bad player, i like his style, but he'd never start in my Liverpool side unless we have an injury.

Strikes me as a Benayoun type player. Creative, tricky dribbler & hard-working. And, like Benayoun he'd be coming from a small club to shine at the biggest. I'd gamble with him.

Think he'd make a good squad player. Not sure 10m is wise spending on a squad player but then again you have to consider potential income from the Asian market.

He's also only 22, and seems to be able to hack the Premiership, so surely he's only going to improve.
