Barton and his family who are gobshites entirely are hated in Liverpool if he were to ever don a Liverpool shirt the reaction does not bear thinking about.

His bad reputation off the field has effected him on the field too I think. I know he has done some very bad things on the field ( the Xabi tackle for instance ) but other players have done worse and got away with it. Think he get's a somewhat harsh treatment from refs and especially players.

Iv seen a good bit of newcastle this season and he has being very very good. I can see why clubs like us might want him. He would be very good back up but to be honest dont think he will put up with that and if we want to challenge for titles he isnt the type of player we should be looking at for the first 11. If Joey comes here for 5/6 million and willing to be a part time player and play like he did this season when he goes get a chance id welcome him with open arms!! Now il run..............

An awful lot of internet rumours suggest he will be.

One of the things we said a lot earlier in the season is that our midfield lacked bite, certainly in away games. Joey Barton the player has that. Joey Barton the person has way too much.

If Kenny wants him, then I am hesitantly okay with it. I don't like Barton but if he makes our team better, then fine.

Despite my earlier comments (don't think he's good enough in talent / character) I will obviously bow to Kenny's judgement if he believes he sees something. With his big bluenose statements and disciplinary problems in the past it'd be a high-wire act for him though. Can't say I'd feel good about though.

I'd much rather have Barton than Adam and if Kenny wants him, he knows he'll be able to control him.
Barton is actually a good player, this is often overlooked - he's hardly the best midfielder in the country though
