      Felipe Melo - Juventus

Liverpool FC to tempt Brazilian midfielder this summer

      http://footybunker.com/liverpool-fc-to-tempt-brazilian-midfielder-this-summer/2793

Liverpool FC are to try and lure Juventus and Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo this summer according to reports from Northern Italy.

The deal, suspected to be going through as soon as the transfer window opens, will involve current Juve loanee Alberto Aquilani as a part exchange but with numerous complications.

When Aquilani first joined Liverpool from Roma in 2009 the deal meant certain instalments were required to be made and any move or potential swap deal for Felipe Melo – valued at around £14m – could mean that Juventus would be in a position to pay the last remaining payment, thought to be around £3.5m due at the end of June.

Should any details be finalised between the two clubs then it is more than likely that both teams will pay a share to Roma for Aquilani, paving the way for Melo to move to the Anfield club for as little as £3.5m plus the Italian midfielder.

Felipe Melo will be 28 in June and has been involved with the Brazilian team since 2008 picking up over 20 appearances. He is perhaps best know for his red card in the 2010 World Cup semi final against the Netherlands and does have the reputation as being one the harder defensive midfielders in the world.

Not a huge admirer I have to say, especially for Aqualani and cash.

He's a good player but always a liability in the big occasion. Before the World Cup, everybody criticized Dunga for keeping him in the team because it was clear he could let the team down in an important moment - and that's just what happened (he could of been sent off against Portugal as well, with some of his ridiculous tackles). Dunga can't say he wasn't warned, as it was so f***in predictable.

That said, I must admit I'd find it nice to have a Flamengo youth product at LFC :D

Nah, not for me. Have no dislike for the leiva and he's improved ten fold this season but, I still think we need someone with a meaner streak propping up the back four. Melo's quality for me, can pass brilliantly and would be the mean f**k in front of the back four that we haven't had for a while. Maybe even being a bit of a didi. I see Lucas more of the squad player for the time being.

      I reckon if M'vila is a no-go then Melo might be a good'n.

I think Lucas proved he has a mean streak also this season when he was the only player from 11 who stood up to the Stoke players while they kicked the sh*te outta us at the Britannia. He was the only one who gave some of their own antics back.

Anyways, do you want a mean f**ker who can tackle, act tough and be suspended every 5th game, or a player who can tackle, contribute somewhat going forward and be available for virtually all games?

      Both please!

I still think having a more physical defender/midfielder is needed, alot because I'm a big fan of the likes of Tommy Smith.

Melo has been sh*te bar one month of this season ever since his time at Fiorentina. You must have a bloody good memory to recall him being 'quality' mate.

Pretty sure in his first season for Juve he got voted the worst signing of the season by quite a long margin

Indeed. They tried to sell him after his first season. No one wanted him.
