Trick is changing you mind and habits, smoked 30 a day for 20+ years used patches for one week then used to take the patch out with me and not put it on. Strangely I then started to change my mindset to giving up the patches rather than he fags.

Kept one of the first and only box of patches I had in my pocket for 18 months before I threw the lot out.

4 months for me now, the Chantix worked but man what crazy dreams...like sitting eating my guts (that had spilled out in front of me) with a salad fork while carrying on a conversation.

Hang int here HTH, it gets better after a little while.

      Cheers.  ;)

      Now, there's an idea.  ;)

Today has got harder as it's gone on. I am gagging for a smoke right now but I must resist.  :)
Stick with it mate it does get easier,I packed in in January 1992,went cold turkey no patches or the likes.6months after I packed in I was at a wedding and bought a pack of cigars and was very tempted but I never had any matches so they stayed in my pocket, just as well because if I had lit one that would of been me back on the smokes. Stay strong and think Y.N.W.A.and that will help to get you through.

Everything is going according to planned. Cravings have all but disappeared.  :)

The only concern I have is after I stop using the patches.

Well in mate.  Tbh, if you really want to stop, you will.  Don't worry, you can do it.

In case that sounds a bit crass, when I gave up, I really wanted to, and I did it remarkably easily in the end.  "Easily" took a lot of will power, but I changed my habits.  I've known people who wanted to give up, but weren't 100% into giving up and they found it really difficult.

Keep on going HTH!  Good luck!

Need to kick it into touch myself, stopped in 2000 only to be offered one by the ex business partner in 2007 when things were going pear shaped in the business and our friendship, been on them ever since.

It will not be easy mate but with determination you can do it.ps If the REDS can string a few wins together that will probably help.

True, but sometimes boredom is the one.

Hopefully taking up hot yoga in the new year should help.

Day 15 and it's all going well.  :)

Today is my first day on medium strength patches. I had been on the high strength ones for the first 14 days. Hopefully, I won't get any bad cravings but I've got nicotine chewing gum if I do.

Are you using an inhaler ? Highly recommend it - as we as giving you a little nicotine rush it also keeps your hands busy.

Keep going - I have been 2 years nearly now. It's well worth it

No, I've just got gum to go with the patches. The strange thing is that I haven't felt like I need to keep my hands busy, when I was expecting to.

If it works then keep going but if your not liking the gum then give the inhalers a bash mate.

Day 33 and so far, so good.

However, losing tonight is testing my mettle. Currently chewing hard on some nicotine gum.
